  1. All, just wanted to assure you this is not a joke. I am fritz's daughter-in-law. His wife wanted me to get the information regarding his passing to those he spent so much time with. If you are in the South Texas area, his obituary will run Monday and Tuesday in the Victoria Advocate. He was involved in a single car car accident just a mile from home.
  2. We just wanted to let everyone know that fritz passed away Saturday night. He truly enjoyed spending time with everyone on this message board.
  3. Hey, You didn't have to post it that many times to convince me. I agree, he has the same chance of getting elected as a snowman in hell. Who is your favorite candidate? fritz
  4. "Whether our legal system works or doesn't, its surely makes the lawyers lots of money... " And that is why there will always be a "grey area". Many politicians started out as lawyers. I believe Hillary is one of them. And I am sure we can all name a few more. Put the power to change laws in the hands of a lawyer, and--------- fritz
  5. "As I recall when I took my CHL class, I believe I was told that the law had recently been amended to allow CHL holders to carry on a public school campus as long as we were outside as long as the students were inside. Meaning, if you happened to be carrying while walking down the sidewalk and the bell rang and students came outside to change classes, you'd be in violation of the law. My instructor did not recommend carrying while on campus." Jason, you know damned well that Texas law will never clearly define a single thing, much less the carry on campus deal. fritz
  6. Yeah, here in Texas all schools are considered "gun free zones", and it is illegal to have one anywhere within a certain distance. Something like 1,000 feet. So, it is illegal to park in a school parking lot if you have a shotgun or deer rifle in your truck (like most ranchers do). Now, in order for the school district to get an 8 million dollar bond passed, they promised to allow the new building to be available to citizens to walk in (as in malls) and not have to drive to the nearest mall which is 35 miles away. But, if you want to park in their parking lot before entering the new expensive building, you must be sure there is no gun in your vehicle. That rules out the use of "walking" in their building by me and others who regularly have a rifle on the truck rack. Unless you want to walk a quarter mile to get to the "walking" building. Makes a lot of sense doesn't it? Of course, that was just a half-assed attempt to get more votes for the unneeded building in the first place. I wonder how many people will actually get any benefit out of our eight million dollars. fritz
  7. Well, at least in this person's view------- Are you tired of those sissy "friendship" poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality? Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship. You will see no cutesy little smiley faces on this card - Just the stone cold truth Of great friendship. 1. When you are sad -- I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry who made you sad. 2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you. 3. When you smile -- I will know you are plotting something that I must be involved in. 4. When you are scared -- I will rag on you about it every chance I get. 5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be, until you quit whining. 6. When you are confused -- I will use little words. 7. When you are sick -- I will tell you to s tay the hell away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever you have. 8. When you fall -- I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass. This is my oath.... I pledge it to the end. "Why?" you may ask. "Because you're my friend!" Friendship is like peeing your pants: Everyone can see it, but only you can feel the true warmth. fritz
  8. And even with the proper clip (which used to be a dime a dozen) there can still be feeding problems. Oswald was extremely lucky. Or was he? fritz
  9. A Christmas Story 'Twas the night before Christmas--Old Santa was pissed. He cussed out the elves and threw down his list. Miserable little brats, ungrateful little jerks. I have a good mind to scrap the whole works! I've busted my ass for damn near a year, Instead of 'Thanks Santa'--what do I hear? The old lady bitches cause I work late at night. The elves want more money--The reindeer all fight. Rudolph got drunk and goosed all the maids. Donner is pregnant and Vixen has AIDS. And just when I thought that things would get better Those assholes from the IRS sent me a letter, They say I owe taxes--if that ain't damn funny Who the hell ever sent Santa Claus any money? And the kids these days--they all are the pits They want the impossible--Those mean little shits I spent a whole year making wagons and sleds Assembling dolls...Their arms, legs and heads I made a ton of yo yo's--No request for them, They want computers and robots...they think - I'm IBM! Flying through the air...dodging the trees Falling down chimneys and skinning my knees I'm quitting this job there's just no enjoyment I'll sit on my fat ass and draw unemployment. There's no Christmas this year now you know the reason, I found me a blonde. I'm going SOUTH for the season fritz --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  10. Yeah, I made a mistake on the proper bullet diameter. Combine a standard 6,5 mm bullet with a worn bore in a Carcano, and you get very erratic results. Might be good if you are prone to flinching on every shot (and can get off as many shots as Oswald was credited with). If there was ever a "magic bullet", like the one that went through both Kennedy and Connaly, and it just happened to be found in the secrecy that went on in the autoposy of Kennedy, it might as well have been from such an obsolete weapon. At least that made it look better than "finding" a 30/06 slug. Or any caliber besides the one Oswald used. He must have been one helluva shoooter! Or extremely lucky. Or just a patsy. Make your own decision on that. fritz
  11. "Supreme Court to Hear DC Gun Ban Case By Ariane de Vogue and Dennis Powell ABC News Tuesday 20 November 2007 Case set to be the first Second Amendment issue before the Court in 70 years. In a decision that could affect gun control laws across the nation, the Supreme Court has agreed to consider whether the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to carry a gun. " It will probably uphold the right of DC to ban guns, but what makes you so sure it will over- rule other states? As I read it, it says "Supreme Court to Hear DC Gun Ban Case". This is not the end of it. This country is made up of 50 different states (and that is why we still have the electorate college to decide the winner of a national election). Remember that the candidate that gets the most votes (in a national election) is not automatically the winner. I believe you will recall a few elections where that held true. fritz
  12. "Written by a housewife from New Jersey and sounds like it! This is one ticked off lady. "Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001? Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan , across the Potomac from our nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania ? Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death t hat day, or didn't they? And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was "desecrated" when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet?...Well, I don't. I don't care at all. I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11. I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat. I'll care when the cowardly so-called "insurgents" in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques. I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs. I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights. In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care. When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have been humiliated in what amounts to a college-hazing incident, rest assured: I don't care. When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank: I don't care. When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed "special" food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being "mishandled," you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts: I don't care. And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled "Koran" and other times "Quran." Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and-you guessed it-I don't care !! If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your E-mail friends. Sooner or later, it'll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous behavior! If you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should you choose the latter, then please don't complain when more atrocities committed by radical Muslims happen here in our great Country! And may I add: "Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem." -- Ronald Reagan I have another quote that I would like to add AND.......I hope you forward all this. "If we ever forget that we're One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under." Also by.. Ronald Reagan One last thought for the day: In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the Anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England 's Prime Minister Tony Blair's words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America , he said: "A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in... And how many want out." Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you: 1. Jesus Christ 2. The American G. I. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom. YOU MIGHT WANT TO PASS THIS ON, AS MANY SEEM TO FORGET BOTH OF THEM. AMEN! " submitted by fritz
  13. I had one, an older one. I sold it to a fellow because I did not like the stiff trigger pull. He told me he could not shoot it accurately because of the stiff trigger. Duh! That's why I sold it! Recently a friend brought me a brand new 60 with a boresighted Nikon scope on it. I sighted it in for him and it did very well. I especially liked the Nikon scope. The trigger was not as stiff on it as my old one. And yes, there are probably more of these floating around than any other .22 semi-auto. fritz
  14. I have one, and in this particular case, I should have listened to Bill and his clan. You see, I sporterized it (at least as much as you can do with one of these). The bullet diameter for the 6,5X52 Carcano is larger than the standard 6,5mm bullet. Using standard 6,5mm bullets will give erratic results, especially in the worn bores of these old curios. The correct bullet is .263. PRVI PARTIZAN makes 123 gr softpoints for this caliber, and they are the correct bullet for it. I have not shot mine yet with these cartridges, but I found them at a decent price at Graff's last year. Yes, the safety is about as hard to operate as the Russian Mosins. Reading from the old book put out by Williams Gun Sight Company, on how to convert military rifles, there are so many problems involved in sporterizing them that maybe Bill was right (at least on this one). fritz
  15. In reference to all the above, it seems that we can now begin to withdraw from Iraq. It's going to happen sooner or later. fritz
  16. To all you old law dogs now just lyin' in the shade, current pistoleros and other fervent Second Amendment believers: I would rather be your friend, but if you are not interested in that, I am prepared to be a capable and efficient enemy. This is the law: The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental. As John Steinbeck once said : 1. Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you. 2. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck. 3. I carry a gun cause a cop is too heavy. 4. America is not at war. The U.S. Military is at war. America is at the Mall. 5. When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away. (but shoot first anyway, then call 911) 6. A reporter did a human interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him 'Why do you carry a 45?'. The Ranger responded with, 'Because they don't make a .46.' 7. An armed man will kill an unarmed man with monotonous regularity. 8. The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his wearing his sidearm. 'Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting trouble?' 'NO Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my rifle.' (Winchester Model 94 30-30 Cal. and loaded with Winchester Silver Tips, no doubt). 9. Beware the man who only has one gun. HE PROBABLY KNOWS HOW TO USE IT!!! AMEN! To this I will add my comments. I was once asked by a lady visiting if I had a gun in the house. To which I said I did. She said 'well I certainly hope it isn't loaded!' To which I said, 'of course it is loaded.' She then asked, 'Are you that afraid of some one evil coming into your house?' My reply was,'No not at all. I am not afraid of the house catching afire either, but I have fire extinguishers around, and THEY ARE ALL LOADED. fritz
  17. "fritz Define "Done". karl " I'm not the one who said it was done, therefore I feel I do not need to answer your question, Karl. But FC pretty well explained what "done" is (at least in Iraq). fritz
  18. "The job got done, and that's what matters. " Is it really done? fritz
  19. "Individuals don't profit from wars like they did, say, during the Civil War. Defense companies and their shareholders do well during time of war- it's not a person. For instance, some bozo put a handmade sign on the overpass accusing Dick Cheney of profiting from the war. How? That's just political tripe. This war isn't going on because some corporate giant wants more income. " Thank you. I never suggested that an individual profited from war, but you answered my question with the answer of "Defense companies and their shareholders do well during time of war". That is what I thought. Now we know who profits from the Iraq war. But don't you think we should include (along with the defense companies), companies like Halliburton who are profiting from the war by being awarded contracts without bidding? It seems that the military/industrial complex is alive and doing well. But, somebody has to clean up the mess, restore the country to at least a resemblance of what it was before. But then, what was that? fritz
  20. "the stock market and the crash, is capitalism at it's best. " I agree with that, but maybe it should read "at it's worst". "A bad thing for us but a very very good thing for the guys at the front." I think that my father got by better after WW2 started, and the commodities he raised were more in demand by our troops. That is where the majority of farm commodities went in those days. Even farm scrap iron was picked up and used for the war effort. A war usually is a good thing for some (remember the "Military/Industrial Complex of VietNam era?). So, who is making the money off the Iraq war? fritz
  21. Tony, My father was in the prime of his life when the Great Depression hit. Born into a farm family, and a farmer all his life, he never to the day he died, forgot what that did to this country. But he survived better than many. My father never had any stock (oh, I think a salesman sold him a few shares in Cities Service Oil Company when oil was discovered here). But I am pretty sure he did not even know where Wall Street was. And that was a good thing for him. I inherited many of his values of how to survive, in case another Great Depression hit. I can assure you my father lived his entire life after that event expecting to go through another one. Of course it did not happen in his lifetime, but it may in yours and mine. Maybe my father was not so uneducated after all. Many so-called educated people jumped to their death out of tall buildings after they were wiped out. The fact that this country is now composed of many less farmers (and many more investors), will make the Great Depression pale in comparison. It can happen again---I know it and you know it. With the speed the world is turning now, it will accelerate like a wildfire. No one will be immune this time. Have a great day tomorrow, and give thanks for what we have now (at least for the time being). fritz

  23. Thanks, Jason fritz is back, but is now the GentlemanFarmer. But I did make my presence known there tonight. We shall see how long it takes Bill and the posse to catch me. Man, I like a good fight. But I'll keep it cool for a short spell. How short? Well, you know fritz is not getting any younger, so the schitt will probably hit the fan soon. fritz
  24. The Texas deer season has been open for over a week now, but I seldom hunt anymore. Not with the stupid requirement that you must take a tape measure and measure the buck's spread. I forget the exact measurement, but it is about the same as the distance between his ears, when erect. If he is old, and cannot get an erection, it is hard to get a good measurement. And the bastards don't want to stand still while you measure them! Texas deer season is just not the same as it used to be. fritz
  25. Thanks, Tom I'm working on it. fritz
