  1. The Kar 98 is a small ring 98 with a large shank barrel. It uses the large rings bolt spacing. Bob
  2. Very nice Sailorman. The rifle in the top pic is the look I'm after. Bob
  3. Not what I was looking for but thanks Bob
  4. Does anyone know what to put on maple to bring out the fiddle back . Seems like I read something about wiping with some type of acid. Thoughts? Bob
  5. You should hear four. Spells out C O L T. Bob.
  6. Karl, I've been there a couple of times. The place is always packed. The prices are reasonable. It about an hours drive for me or I would go more often. They have a large selection of used guns. Cool place. Bob
  7. Try MSC for drilll bushings. They should have what you need. Bob
  8. Clemson, How about an update on your project. Bob
  9. Rustyvper Sounds like a good project to me. The origional barrel did have steps. They were probably removed. If the barrel cleans up good it should make a good hunting rifle. I would clean the barrel and shoot it to see if it is good. Aftermarket stocks are avaible for the Swedish Mauser. Pics as you progress please? Bob
  10. I wish to express my thanks to all of you veterans today. Thank you. Bob
  11. FC My limited experience with non-lead pellets is this. The non-lead pellets are so much lighter, that they fly at a greater velocity, making them unstable. I tried some of the Crossman non-lead pellets. Try a heaver pellet. Bob
  12. How about .308 Norma Mag. It will still fit in a 30/06 length magazine. Bob
  13. FC DC= smoother welds with deeper penetration. Much better in my opion. Bob
  14. Brenden, I 'm sorry to hear of your fathers passing. May he rest in peace. Bob
  15. 8uck5nort , European Walnut most definitely. Bob
  16. 8uck5ort, I would not cut the barrel that short. It will have a terrible muzzle blast. I think 22' is as short as I would go. Just my 2 cents worth. bob
  17. Thanks guys. Are there aany more manuals that list the 9.3x62? I need to update anyway. Bob
  18. Hey guys, Which one of the new reloading manuals has the most data for the 9.3x62 Mauser? None of my manuals list this cartridge. I,m interested in safe loads for a M649 Husqvarna, which is based off of the model 96 Mauser. What are some of your favorite powders? I purchased some 250 Gr. Nosler Accubond bullets. I would like to keep velocitys in the 2200-2300 FPS range. Thanks, Bob
  19. 8uck5nort, What bullet weight are you using? What powder? My Sierra manual lists .357 mag losds for lever action rifles with a 18.5 inch barrel. My manual shows the Sierra 158 gr. JHC/JSP bullet with WW296 and a CCI 550 primer. Using 15.0 grns.(starting load)1600FPS,17.0grns.(max load) at 1800 FPS. WW296 is the slowest powder shownn for .357 mag in my manual. As per saefty, start at minimuum starting loads. Bob .
  20. Dirtyjim, I hope that the burnt stock isn't from being in a fire, if it was I would not waste my time. The heat treat may be jepordised. Good luck, and keep us posted. Bob
  21. I think the Shaw barrel is better quality. I guess it depends on if you have the equipment and the ability to do the work needed on the E.R. Shaw barrel. I just recieved my E.R. Shaw barrel yesterday. I ordered one in .257. I have a KAR reciever that I have been wanting to do a .257 Roberts on. don't worry someone else already screwed with it. Bob
