Back before WWII the 1917 was one of the few affordable actions that could fit the long H&H cartridges. Many were converted to 300 and 375's. And in Alaska, for your use I figure .308 caliber would get used more often than the larger calibers. You can load it as mild as 30-06 or step it up to 300 WinMag. To put a modern cartridge in one seems like putting fuel injection in a '32 Model A. Just doesn't match; too disrespectful to the chassis. I've often thought about a 300 H&H on a Rem Model 30 (commercial action of 1917 origin) I have that is in 30-06 AI. But you can't ream a 30-06AI to 300 H&H.

I bet you'd use a 300 H&H more often and longer.

300 H&H Sporter - but will take some sweat equity to be reasonable.

BRG in the first three shades has a conifer appearance which would fit right in in Alaska. Other greens may be out of context. The last two are too dark to contrast well with a black top. To borrow a phrase from the 50's - the lighter shades would be "really bitchin'". (I need to stop now or some may begin to question my heterosexuality)

One of the light to medium shades of BRG. I've always thought it to be a nice compromise between an earth tone and sporty.

I had a couple enfields and if I didn't sequence the rounds such that the upper round was forward of the lower round the upper rim would tend to hang on the lower rim.

I recently bought a "3rd brake light" for my '96 Bronco. Pretty sure it's nothing more than a slightly reconfigured F-150 bed light. Paid $20 bucks vs. some multiple of that from dealer for a "light kit" I think

I think the oil industry would call that a junk shot. If that is a prescription medication on the left it may give you a clue as to how recent and who may have clogged the drain. Is that a prune?
