  1. Karl, that is fantastic!!! Steve
  2. They tried to get into Disneyland dressed like that?? The gatekeepers were right not to let them in. I'm no prude, but Disneyland is for kids, not nudity. Sheesh, some people are just unbelievable!!! Steve
  3. That is absolutely disgraceful. Brings to mind images from the hospital scenes from the movie "Born on the 4th of July". Is this another example of history repeating itself? Those brave men and women deserve the best this country has to offer and they obviously are not getting it. Not even close. Is there anything the common citizen can do? Steve
  4. Well, at least the good citizens of New Mexico will know how some of their tax dollars are being psssst away! I bet we get these in Wa. state any time now. Our fake governor will be wetting her panty's when she finds out about these gizmos. She'll have them in every restroom statewide. I have one question though, if a big white mint in a urinal talks to you, would you listen?? steve
  5. I wear a beard now, but when I was shaving I used a doubled edged safety razor, (never could get used to an electric). I also used a shaving mug, brush, and round bar type shaving soap. Use real hot water and you get hot lather. Works great! Cheaper too! Old fashioned? Who cares? I like it and you get a good shave, what more can ya ask for? If I decide to shave in a year or 2 that stuff will be there waiting, the soap will last for years dry, just soak in hot water fora few minutes, and its back to normal. i've done it before. Some things are hard to improve on. take care, Steve
  6. Beggin' your pardon sir, but thats "Wilkinson" sword blades. No "e"s, no "r"s. Thank you very much for your consideratoin in this matter. Best Regards, Steve Wilkinson
  7. Karl, sounds like good stuff to me.Accurate, clean burning, easy clean up. Can't ask for any more than that. will have to try it myself. Happy Shooting, Steve
  8. I must agree with what Karl, horsefly, FC, and USMC have said on this subject. I have had the priviledge of speaking to several veterans of Iraq and they ALL say that we should be there and the job we are doing there is an important one. This is good enough for me.The reality is, we are at war in iraq, we must be allowed to finish the job we sent our troops there to do, and we must support our troops 110%. Period. oh, and Fritz, thanks for the original post. very interesting and informative. also, I, for one, appreciate a diference of opinion, gives a person food for thought and keeps your own "opinion pool" from becoming stagnant. thanks again, Steve
  9. I have seen this stuff advertised on TV. It is very new. Too new to know what the long term effects of taking it may be, at least in my opinion. What are the long term side effects? Is there a small percent of the population that have adverse allergic reactions, or worse?? The female reproductive system is a very fragile and delicate system and I would want some concrete answers to some very serious questions before I wuold recomend it to any young woman I knew. These drug company's come out with a "miracle" drug and can't wait to market it (big profits ya know) before all the data is in. It has happened many times before. I'd say the governor of Texas is WAY overstepping his bounds. By the way, do you think he owns stock in this company? If this stuff truly works and is otherwise harmless it would be a wonderful thing, but I would want some questions answered first. Be careful, Steve
  10. Wasn't it Vince Foster who *commited suicide* by shooting himself in the BACK of his head 3 or 4 times? The Clinton will probably go down in history as the dirtiest and most criminal politicians in american history. Theres a LOT of dirt swept under their rugs. Steve
  11. Karl, I thimk you will be pleased with Grafs BP. It should work just fine. Good Luck, Steve

    Spit Upon

something terribly famililiar about that clip. Reminds me of the 60s and 70s. The only thing missing was Jane Fonda. I thought and was hoping that this country had learned how to treat its vets. I pray this does'nt become common place. Steve
  13. Thank You! Looks like a blast! Steve
  14. As I understand it, blowing or shooting an anvil requires 2 anvils, preferably the large 200 lb. blacksmith type. MY great grampa saw this at a fourth of july celebretion in minot, N.D. many years ago when he was a boy. The first anvil is set in a field upside down and level, there is a small depression in the bottom of the anvil left from the casting process. This is filled with black powder, a pound or a little more, a piece of cannon fuse is placed in the powder charge and the second anvil placed on top of the first one face up. the fuse is then lit. when the powder goes off the top anvil is launched, and a great part of the fun is the ringing sound made by a well cast anvil as it is launched. plus trying to see how high you send a 200 lb. anvil. Fritz is right, the past few generationations have been robbed of many very simple pleasures. this is something I would enjoy to see. Steve
  15. Fritz, is blowing an anvil the same as shooting an anvil? I have heard of shooting an anvil and it sounds like great fun. Would like to see it some time. Don't know of many anvils around unfortunatly. My best friend has 1 so I guess we're half way there. steve
  16. Karl, did'nt realize things had gotten so silly concerning black powder. Its always been classed as an explosive, with special storage regs, amounts on hand laws, etc. the subs , including pyrodex are classed the same as reloading powder. Things have probably gotten tighter since 9/11 and homeland security. I hane'nt done much with my BP stuff for a few years, been more into my milsurps. Pyrodex may work for you, I don't recall using it in a revolver, but i'm sure I did at one time or another. Must be a senior moment, lol. pyrodex would always be my second choice if i could'nt get real BP. It prefers a hot cap to set it off, especially in cold weather, but in Cali, you probably don't have to worry about that, and revolvers have pretty much straight line ignition, which is also a plus for it. In a moment of weakness, I sold my last BP revolver to a good friend (I hate to see a grown man beg). It was a Pietta from cabalas 1860 Colt. Quite accurate at 25 yards, wish I still had it. We got 10 inchs of new snow last night I need to go deal with, thank God for $ wheel drive and 2 teen age sons. best of luck! Steve
  17. would'nt mind a taste of 'Jack' my self right now. Have you ever tried Henry McKenna? I believe it's from Kentucky. They make a nice whiskey there also. enjoy Steve
  18. Karl, glad it all worked out ok for you, your well trained ear probably saved you a few digits and/or a nice revolver today! what is "American Brand" powder? I have never heard of it befoere. is it black powder or a BP substitute? In the past 35 years I have tried most of the BP subs I could find in the Spokane area and have always gone back to good old Goex. In pistols, all of the substitutes seemed like i was shooting squib loads, and in rifles it always took alot more powder to get the same results. all this B.S. and for a lot more money than Goex. From now on, in my black powder guns, I will stick to real black powder. After all the years of experimenting I have done, and spent a lot of money doing it, I have come to one conclusion, black powder is best, screw the rest! Stick with Goex. Steve
  19. Skeeter, NCShooter is right, Doug Turnbull is the absolute best there is at firearms restoration/color casehardening. His reputation is beyond reproach. And with him being only 2 hours away, you won't have to trust that beautiful rifle to any of the various shipping morons out there! he probably has a waiting list though. good luck, Steve
  20. I agree wholeheartedly with Karl and 724wd, and no, I won't be marching today. I live 15 miles, give or take, from 724wd and its damn cold here. 8 degrees on my front porch. spent some time out in it helping a friend get her car started, that was enough for me! stay warm, steve
  21. karl, the older I get, (I'm 53 now) , the more often I have "those" days. the eye doc said "your eyes are middle aged". This is just one of many "jokes" mother nature pulls on us as we get older. I have been near sighted most of my life and now I have to remove my glasses to read and my rifle sights have gone fuzzy. To say this sucks is an under-statement! There is help, tho. there are vitamin supplements out there that are just for vision help and they do help a lot. wal-mart or any pharmacy has them, Ocuvite is one brand i remember. the first brand I tried did'nt help much so I tried another, and another. It took about three weeks to notice a diference, but they really do help. try one bottle of one brand at a time till you find what works for you. Lutein is one of the key ingredients. us middle aged guys gotta stick together! fighting old ag one day at a time, steve
  22. Karl, be very cautious pouring black powder thruogh a plastic funnel! some plastics create large amounts of static electricity which will cause a spark. with black powder this could cause a big BOOM. obviously some plastics are worse than others since they sell plastic funnells in reloading kits. just something to be aware of. enjoy. Merry Christmas Steve
  23. you'll never regret buying a russian SKS, and that price is awesome. they go for 300. to 350. on the online auctoin site now. they were the first and in my opinion the best of the breed. i got mine from the first batch that hit our shores many years ago, 125.00 wholesale, and it is still my favorite "fun gun", having fired at least 4000-5000 rnds without a hitch. hope you get it! steve
  24. Fritz I'm with you! MERRY CHRISTMAS from right Wa. state! steve
