  1. I ran across a B&C with the aluminum bed at a gun show. I really like it. It seems to fit very well. I just had to do some minor barrel channel work and it shoots excellent.
  2. Samco has new stepped 23.5 in. barrels for $89.99 at www.samco.com there is also one on ebay right now in 29 in. it was at $71 last I looked. Happy hunting
  3. Hey All, I am looking at putting together a model 93 in 257 Roberts. With the recent removal of the "+P" designation by many of the ammo makers I am concerned that I may run into a pressure problem down the road. The PSI is in the area of 54000 and the 6.5x55 and 7x57 top out at 51000. Comments? Jim Happy 06
  4. Just a thought on your project, I like the idea of going 7x57 but if you hand load you might consider cutting it to 7x57 AI. This would allow you to gain greater performance out of this case and retain the flexibility to shoot factory ammo if you so choose. It may be just the ticket for sheep. Good luck
  5. Just saw this on gunbroker. It just might work and keep you under budget. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=36964795
  6. Thanks all for the insights. I will likely start on this in a week or two. I will keep you all posted on the progressm Jim
  7. I have a model 93 I am about to start and the barrel is trashed. I was considering doing this project in 6.5x55. Will I be required to open the bolt face to accomidate the 0.007 larger case rim or will it cycle properly? Thanks
  8. Thanks Jason, Points noted. If anyone has a specific suggestion on a top notch degreaser to use prior to applying the finish coat I am all eyes & ears. As one that is new to the addiction I may tend to over do on the research. But after screwing up the finish on the stock three times and redoing it following Bill's methods, I figure I best take the time to make something that I will be truly pleased with every time I go into the field. I would love to get good enough at this to feel proud to gift one to my closest friend. I can't imagine a finer feeling then to have someone crack a trophy Ungulate with a rifle you built with your own two hands with one shot. Unless you have the pleasure of slamming it yourself! Thanks for all your support! Jim
  9. I am getting ready to try my hand at using GunKote. I have read their wedsite instructions so I thought it might be wise to check with all of you on the board for any tips, tricks, or possible "oops's" to use or avoid. I have been bitten bad by the Mauser bug but I want to do it right. This is my first start to finish project and I have already started two more. So please help me off to the best start possible. Thanks All Jiim
