  1. I figured Id try here before I hit the parts places anybody got maybe 1 or 2 1909 longrifle buttplates that are clean and not all pitted up that they would be willing to part with screws or no screws. I need em for two stocks I`m working on. Thanks Guys aaron10
  2. Yeah I finally got to our new cabelas here was not to impressed same thing 200.00 mosins but the 24/47 `s were 399.00 no way I`ll pay those prices I`m cheap . I almost fainted when I saw a late made p7 H&k in their fancy gun room for 2700.00 I asked em if they would like to buy my first run one for that price LOL. Kenny the persian stock is way nicer just a few dings and dents to iron out its got that crazy like chocolate and black streaked fancy walnut. Numrich did me right on the 2 persian stocks they sent me. I figured Id use the gunbroker one on the 7mm argentine its got only one little chip I need to fix and a few small dents to get out. I figured since the persians show no set back and are in better shape I`d use one of them with that barrel . Both of my F series 1909`s show slight lug imprints inside but it must not be too bad because they extract fine . aaron
  3. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=436882065 ok I got this today dont have a clue lagging caused a double post so i Edited this one and the one below dissappeared later on . Well i got this today from gunbroker took a chance cause here in ak Ive seen only like 4 1909 argentines in 44 years being here and I got 2 of them not in the best shape one is original and one is wearing a mint 1908 barrel in 7mm because bore was toast and a buddy built his 404 on the brazilian and I got barrel for free, so now I got a nice stock for it. But the barrel this guy sent me immaculate the bore and chamber are like unfired he told me the customer just wanted the action so he bought the best 1909 he could find so the smith built him a 3006 on it and he had these parts left over. So long story short lol when samco had persian barreled actions I managed to get 2 put away for a rainy day they are mint but bolt numbers dont match actions so I wont feel bad using one. And last year numrich got some persian stocks in so I squirreled 2 of those away too and got bits and pieces buttplates screws etc. So I`m thinking this nice barrel is going to get put on one of those persian actions and the really nice stock I got from numrich its looks like a drop in fit other than gap in stock around the original persian site base but the handguard covers it any way. Rest of barrel channel is the same contour So what do yah think. aaron10
  4. Yes I planned on using a shim if I have too I was under the impression that the original shank on the 1903 turk before the turks converted them to 8mm and bored them out to hold the handguard and 1909 peruvian were longer than normal do to the longer front ring. Didnt the peruvian 1909 use small shank barrels too ? aaron10
  5. handguard ring hasnt been removed yet to true it up I was asking how long the barrel shanks you guys have been taking off were averaging before the ring was trued but I got my answer thanks tinker
  6. Ok gents so I havent been here in ages but what have you guys been seeing for the barrel shank length on the 1903 turk small ring barrels that had the ring cut out for handguards that your removing , I got a 1891 argentine barrel I may use on one. thanks aaron
  7. Hi guys havent been here for a while baby and new house have kept me busy. But I went through all this awhile back. youll find norma brass is sized perfectly for your 1909 including their factory ammo. the new privipartisan brass from grafs is sized for the 1891 argentines youll have to bump shoulder back for the 1909. Since I was going to build a persian with a new lothar barrel I got headspace guages made from jgs I ordered the argentine no way would it fit either new euro cip specs. So I ordered the belgian go guage it fit the 1891 perfectly for the 1909 I had to get one .010 shorter. I read a article long ago that do to extraction dificulties in the 1891 with the puny extractor they cut the chambers .010 deeper for a looser tolerance.both have enough clearance if brass is 2.1 in length or shorter. argentine ammo from last lots 1970 or 1981 is way out of spec brass is all over the place for shoulder placement and bullet bases are not square on the boattail someone told me this ammo was made for haiti . The only die set I use now is a old lyman and a rcbs form die cause they are the only one that will set shoulder back far enough.Even rcbs belgian mauser die set I bought wont set shoulder back enough. Hope that help yah out.aaron10

  9. Kenny I was reading in some of my reloading manuals it used to be 47,000 cup but now sammi has dropped it down to 43,000 cup. I found long ago one of the best powders for lower pressures was the discontinued win680 which I think now is the same as accurate arms aa1680. Ive been thinking about doing the same thing but building one on a argentine 1891 action. I just wonder though about how much backthrust the hornet cartridge produces.aaron10
  10. Ok guys help needed I got some more cocking pieces for some 1891 argentines some of them show wear from where the nose rides the rear of the bolt, the area below that rides the trigger sears are fine . A few I can restone , 2 may need to be rebuilt up with small weld and then cleaned up and reshaped what type of rod or wire do I need to use as a friend will weld them for me . Also what Im wondering is how to reharden them I have a can of casenite but will a propane torch be hot enough to use or do I need something hotter, and do I oil quench them or water quench them or just let them cool naturally . aaron10
  11. I`ve Always wanted a custom 7.65 X53 ever since I got my first centerfire rifle a 1891 argentine carbine back in 1978 ,so I`m going to build 2, all parts have been bought slowly in last 2 years , 2 stockless persian barrelled actions from samco , custom headspace guages, 2 lothar barrels, tools etc, working on the workbench for lathe and barrel vise this week, and ordering lathe accesories. Going to build one long rifle and one carbine. Hope to get on em soon if and when baby permits . Aaron10
