  1. Ken.thanks for the information. I'll check it out. John
  2. I want to make a 98 Mauser with a different latch for a hinged floorplate. I have a picture that looks like a double barrel shotgun forend stock latch modified for a Mauser. I've done some research and found a shotgun latch that is identical to the one in the picture. It's called a Deely & Edge Fastener and is found on Parker and Prussian Charles Daly shotguns. Does anyone have any information on this? If none of this makes sense, just take it as the rambling of an "off his rocker" old man. Anyway, thank you. In Christ. John
  3. If It's worth anything, I had a Remington 742 Woodsmaster .308 automatic that fired full metal jackets with no malfunction. In Christ, John
  4. Do you have access to Robert W. D. Ball's book "Mauser Military Rifles of the World"? If you don't, I'll give you mine. It has information about your Brazilian 1908/34 .30 that you may find helpful. I think you'll enjoy it. Mail your address to me at jcautry5552@aol.com and it will be put in the mail. A word of caution. It may increase your Mauser "addiction". In Christ, John
  5. I really appreciate the input. Spiris, I've never seen the Hoosier information before and It's very interesting. Thanks. In Christ, John.
  6. Sorry for the omission. It is a large ring Mauser. The ".30-06 notch" is the semi-circular notch machined into the rear of the receiver ring. The crest is circular with an eagle (?) over a shield and REPUBLICA DE COLOMBIA above the circle. Thank you again. In Christ. John
  7. I bought a rifle kit from Springfield Sporters a number of years ago. It consists of a receiver, barrel, and bare bolt. All parts seem to be unused. The bolt is unmarked except for what appears to be a tiny flag under the handle lug. The barrel is 23 1/4", nicely finished, and the only marking is what looks like a tiny crown. The receiver ring has a Colombian crest, serial #F .302xx (left), and R Famage and 1957 (right). It has the .30-06 ring notch. The left guide rail has been scrubbed. I see no proof marks under ihe receiver. Can anyone tell me something about these parts? Thanks, John
  8. I really appreciate the response. Thank you. John
  9. H, newbie here. I hope I'm in the right section. Does anyone know of a bedding block for 98 Mausers like the Hart Remington 700 Accu.Mount offered by Stockeys Stocks? I'm not a competition shooter, just someone who likes something different and can't seem to let well enough alone (old street rodder). I've followed this forum for some time and am impressed by the way your members cooperate with one another, especially the ones (including me) who are learning from this forum. Thank you for letting me be a part of it. John
