Looking For Mosin Accessories

Does anyone have any surplus Mosin accessories they're willing to part with real-cheap-like? I recently bought a 91/30 (for Christmas) and I could use a sling and some stripper clips. I dunno what else there is for these. Don't really need a cleaning kit from a functional perspective.

8uck5nort if the bayonet is the removable, not the folding type I have a friend that is looking for one. My friend, an avid gun collector is totally blind from a Viet Nam booby trap. He likes to collect all the accessories he can get for his rifles. I can PayPal or send you a money order if you want to part with it. I'll pass it to my friend calling it a belated Christmas gift.

Doc Hess, I have never seen stripper clips for sale for the Nagant. I have a couple of British 303 stripper clips that might work.

Thanks, Dave, but I'll hold out for the exact part. No rush. I just figured people would have some left over from buying a case on stripper clips. I guess it isn't sold that way much. Found a place in SGN selling 7.62x54R for $140/880 rounds + shipping.

Doc I suggest before you buy a large quantity see if you can buy and test a smaller amount. I sprang for a bunch of Bulgarian 762X54R and it is very difficult to extract. My last outing with it we had to beat the bolt open a couple times with a rubber maillot. Had the same problem in two other rifles. I have a feeling the ammo you're looking at is the same crap I got. Mine came in two large vacuum packed Spam type cans. The cans opened up with a key like the old 50 and 60's coffee cans. As soon as I made the first twist with the key. I heard the psst noise from air rushing in.

The ammo is steel cased, green lacquer coated and corrosive. I've shot up a few hundred rounds, not a single dud or hang-fire. Off a bench at a hundred yards it is surprisingly accurate, especially through the long barrels. Putting up with the stubborn extraction though is a real PIA and the recreation quickly turns to work.

My next door neighbor bought some of what is named "copper washed" steel cased surplus 762X54R from Big 5. It was a bit sticky at times extracting it but no where near as difficult as mine. If I could locate some real brass at a reasonable cost. I'd break my ammo down for the components and toss the steel cases where they belong, in the garbage.

Well that stuff at $140/case is supposed to be Polish. I also bought some Russian stuff from Sportsmans Guide. Both are in the spam can things. Hopefully the Poles and Russians know how to make ammo for Russian rifles. It's all corrosive, of course. At 20 cents a pop or less, I don't think you can get anything else. I'm not big on corrosive ammo, and my experience is very limited with it, but from what I have read, the thing to do is spray down the barrel with Windex after shooting, then clean it with Hoppes, oil it, and repeat again the next day.

That is exactly the way I do it using the Windex. I also remove the bolt and spray the head with Windex and wipe it down. I'm pretty sure the 762X54R my neighbor had that worked well and extracted easily was made in Poland. My neighbor is currently stationed in Guantanamo Bay so no way to verify it.

Dr. Hess- See if you can find some "Brown Bear" ammo for the Mosin. Last time I bought some it was around $3 a box and was pretty accurate. 203 gr soft point, copper washed cases, extraction is easy and accuracy is decient.

I want to publicly thank 8uck5nort for sending the Russian goods for my blind friend. He was totally surprised and grateful as one can be. I got this picture of him with the package. Him and I had just spent the day at a military vehicle show at the Az National Guard Amory in Phx.

Well, I bought a set of accessories off eBay. It was <$24 for a sling, 5 stripper clips identical to the ones Tom linked to at CTD and a rubber recoil pad almost as hard as the steel one and with a rather distinct odor from a guy in Georgia. The stripper clips are pretty stiff. I've been working on one to loosen it up so the rounds can be pushed down. I have pretty strong hands from years of bike riding, but man, it would be tough to load with those clips without some work.

I got 880 rounds of Polish from Royal Tiger for ~$160 delivered. Had to battle Fed Ex Ground a bit, but it got here. Their independent contractor marked it as "tried to deliver 3 times, no one home" when he never even tried once.
