Effects Of Lead Balls

Ah, the hole left from a round ball. Back when I used a side hammer, thats all I would use to deer hunt with; a .50 cal and a patched round ball in front of 100 grains of black powder. Those round balls accounted for a few deer in their day, and made massive entrance and exit wounds.

After purchasing an inline muzzloader, all I shoot are 250 grain PTX sabots with a 120 grain charge. They are unstopable, and most certanily drop a deer in their tracks out to 130 yards (open sites still), but much of the magic is lost. I wish I would have bought a new side hammer instead of the inline, it was much more fun.
