Here's a nice little mexican 1910 that I just finshed up fro a customer. Sweet little rifle. He's putting an octagonal barrel on it.

Have I seen that action on AR before?

You mean this one? P1010012.JPG

Yup. The goofey handle that was originally attached would have required super dooper high rings. I felt bad for him when he first posted pics so I PM'd him asking if he'd checked his clearnace before commissioning a $4000 stock for the thing. Two days later he emailed me back asking how quickly I could replace the handle and properly fit the safety. Now it's off to the stockmaker. It'll be a sweet rifle.

It is currently in 7x57 but, the barrel was heavier than he'd anticipated (Octagons usually are) so he may get it rebored to 9.3x57 once the stock is finished and he can try the balance firsthand.

Kenny,

It's a 1910 action with a 1936 bolt which of course includes the sprigfield type cocking piece.

Don,

The rear tang is unaltered. Is there anything in particular you want a shot of before I send it off to the stockmaker?

Mike,

What kind of bottom metal is on that receiver? Spanish?

Vlad

Vlad,

That is Blackburn Bottom metal. Some Spanish is also hinged but nearly as good looking.

Yeah, Ted has had problems meeting his delivery schedules. When I got my bottom metal for my 8x68s I was lucky and it was on the shelf. My customer only came by this because Jim Wisner was unloading his "junk".

I hear that Sunny Hill is now selling Mexican bottom metal. They're a little steeper than Blackburn's units but, they also exist in the here and now, lol.

Just got some info from Andy @ Sunny-Hill that he would like passed along.

"New TG assembly for Mex and Swedish Mausers will have integral magazine box, footprint will be the same or slightly larger than original. Thinning at rear wall of box to allow slightly longer cartridges adding .050-.060 to internal length. Can order direct , price the same as std. mauser boxes (499.) (my Wow). Dealer pricing available and expect to be done by end of April 08".
