Sailormilan2
I have a commercial Mauser 98 bolt that appears to be either chrome or nickel plated. Is there anyway to remove that finish, short of buffing it off??
donmarkey
I don't know about chrome but there are commercial nickel strippers. I think brownells sells one. -Don

rebel49
I used Brownells Nickel stripper about two months ago on a Colt and it worked great. Takes about 3-4 hours to work if you follow the directions, and it stinks, but it does work. If it's chrome you will have to have it commercially stripped, there really is no other way to totally strip chrome, buffing does not work, and niether does sand blasting.
