Wally's World Was Loaded With Ar's Today.

Never been so close to a $1,000.00 impulse purchase of a 7.62 DPMS AR-10. $907.99 plus tax. They also had a couple of loaded Colt AR-15's in the 1100 range and some unheard of name AR-15's at 799.

I need an AR-10 about as bad as I need another hospital stay but it was sure tempting. I've had an $850 standing offer for my cherry S&W Model 57. If he would have had the cash and not wanted me to wait 30 days I'd be proudly posting pics of my new rifle. Probably for the best, don't really need it, I'm no longer physically capable of big game hunting and forced myself to keep my debit card in my wallet.

What a temptation!

Locally our WalMart no longer sells guns. The ATF ran their records and found "N" for No and "Y" for Yes so they fined the store out of the gun business.

We still dont have any ammo worth a darn except shot shells. I have forgotten what a box of 7.62x39 looks like.

I've wanted an AR-10 type rifle for quite some time. My original plan before the SHTF was to sell some of my hunting rifles at a gun show and use the bux for an Armalite brand AR-10. I kind of got hooked on a large caliber black rifles during the short time I had a CETME. Really enjoyed the CETME as a 200 yard iron sighted range toy but it was a constant battle keeping it running and replacing parts. I parted company with the CETME after being offered a near mint FN 45 pistol with extra 17 rd mags, Forbus holster and an el-cheapo airgun quality laser. MY 20/20 hind sight really kicked me in the butt though after seeing CETME prices peak with 12-$1300 price tags at gunshows. How much they actually sold for is anybody's guess.

Hopefully the panic buying is on the decline. Good feeling seeing guns on the shelf but as mentioned ammo is still scarce. The only ammo Wally's had on the shelf were two boxes of Remmy 06, several boxes of off-brand 40 S&W and a single box of 257 Roberts. No 22's and the only shot shells were the high priced stuff. I couldn't see the details of the shotshells and I quickly lost interest seeing the 14.99 price tag. Wally's also had a hand written sign posted putting limits on any single caliber of no more than 2 boxes per caliber and a 100rds per day limit except 22RF.

The local walmarts around me in Fl don't sell rifles at all. : (

They had to move them out to make room for shuffle board supplies and cribbage boards in their sporting goods section.

BS aside, my local Wally's actually had dove and quail shotshells on sale. A 4-pack of 25 rd boxes for 25.00 even. I grabbed the last 4 packs of 7 1/2 shot size and was hammered on the two pack limit. Went back the following morning and the 7 1/2's were all gone. When I asked about more arriving before the sale ends. The sales clerk said the sale is limited to stock on hand, no rain checks. Got a shoulder shrug and a "I dunno" when I repeated my question about more arriving before the end of the sale. One of my twins backed out of opening day so the 2, 4 packs should get us by. I usually get a BBM flyer just prior to dove season from Cabalas. Cabalas usually have a sale on 1 1/4 ounce Winchester dove loads. Wallys are I 1/8 oz. My neighbor told me Dick's are the same price but are 1 oz loads and an oddball foreign brand. I didn't want to risk passing up Wallys as it is always a verbal battle getting the on sale shells at Cabalas. Cabalas hide the sale shells out of place and the sales people using bait and switch tactics try to steer buyers to more costly shells.
