Tech Sights Ts-200 On Yugo Sks

FC

Recommended Posts

I put TS-200 Tech Sights rear peep sight on my Yugo SKS yesterday. Purchased from Amazon. Seems to work pretty good, so far. The biggest hassle was trying to put the trigger group back on. I could see no other way that lightly Dremel tooling the latch pin and the area it snaps to. No matter what I did it wouldn't go. I put a bevel on the main body too because it seemed to be blocking installation. It got so bad I tried to snap it together without the stock. It just would not go. Yugoslavs didn't turn out guns with the best machining, as evidenced by my M-46A woes of a decade ago. The bolt wouldn't close on a round.

That does look like a nice piece. I, too, am curious as to how it works out. Accuracy in particular. Is the factory sight a limiting factor in accuracy? Would replacing it with one like that improve things? Does that peep site help us "not younger" guyz with presbyopia?

They should have made a hole in the back so you could use the original retaining system for the top cover.

I don't like the looks of those scope mounts that replace the top cover or have to come off to clean the rifle. Just don't see how they could keep a zero.

I'll take it to sight in some more today. It was dusk when I finally had it ready to shoot. I'm shooting Bear ammo that has bullets a bit undersized for it. I may reload with the proper size in the future. The user reviews are very good. Front sight stays put.

Different subject: Dr. Hess, have you watched "Doc Martin" on Netflix? He's a former English surgeon who has hemophobia and becomes GP. He has no bedside manner. Funny series.

Well, I managed to booger up my sear using a YouTube video as a guide. The guy successfully used a band sander. I thought that sounded too aggressive, and I should have listened to my inner self. Too short! Thank goodness AIM sells sears at a decent price. Anyway, a string of three shots were touching on an incline, so I think the rear sight is worthwhile.

No, haven't seen that one. I don't get netflix. Don't have the bandwidth, although I am working on a solution. yourkarma.com sells you a hot spot, then you can buy unlimited internet at $50 a month, 4GLTE Sprint based. They limit you to 5Mb bandwidth, but all you can download at that speed. It is pretty good. I am experimenting with it now and I can DL about a gig an hour. I can give a coupon code if you want ten bucks off purchase price.

What do they sell SKS sears for? I kinda need a set myself.

$6.95 for the sear, but shipping was $10-something. I went ahead and ordered some ammo so I wouldn't feel as bad about shipping costs. My mauser LOVES S&B 7x57 ammo, and it's hard to find, but AIM has it. Sears elsewhere are at least $30. Supposedly the Albanian sear fits.

That hotspot sounds good. I don't need one right now, but if we go somewhere with the camper it would be a good solution, I guess? Doc Martin clips and some episodes are also on YouTube. We've totally dropped cable and gone with Roku 3.

Now that I'm totally off-topic...

I also tried several rear cover sight mounts. I could zero them to as I recall I or 2 moa at 100 meters, ( I did a lot of work in those days bedding and action and trigger work on my SKSs and making handloads ) from sand bags. But once I had to take the off to clean. It was ALWAYS back to square one. Keep us informed FC.
