  1. kcatto, Tell me about your stock. My action doesn't have the extended tang and trigger guard was you stock inlet for those two pieces? Speaking of inlet, how well was the action inlet and barrel channel? Are you happy with you stock? How long did it take you to receive the stock after the order was placed. I looked on thier web site today and they have a few for Arisaka's listed as as inventory.
  2. Thanks, I'll give Richards a call.
  3. I think your 100% correct. Does the Richards stock come inlet for the extended tang? My rifle doesn't have the extended tang or trigger guard. I have used a couple of Richards stocks in the past and was general pleased with them.
  4. Good Morning folks. It's been a very long time since I was on this site. It's been so long in fact that I had to re-register. I am pretty much a Mauser guy but about two years ago I bought an Arisaka rifle from a construction worker needing money. The barrel was stamped .257 on top with no visible Jap markings at all. I just assumed the rifle had been rebarreled because it had lyman rear sights and a very classic ramp/blade front sight. The receiver had been drilled and tapped for a scope and it was in a sporter stock that was completely busted at the wrist and repaired with glue and wood screws. I took the rifle home, wiped it down with gun oil to protect it from rust and stored it in one of those plastic, foam lined, rifle cases and put it away. Two weeks ago i was reading a forum and a guy asked about a Type 30 sporter rifle he had just bought chambered for 6.5X257. Bingo!!!! Got my interest immediately. I remembered my rifle was stamped .257 and I wondered if I had a type 30 that had been reamed with a .257 reamer to form the 6.5X257 chamber. I'm a big fan of the 6.5. I pulled my rifle out of storage, done some checking and sure enough, I have a 6.5X256. At some point the barrel had been pulled because the Jap markings and original sight pin hole are on the bottom of the barrel. My rifle is in pretty good shape as far as metal goes. Finish is pretty much gone but no pitting at all and the bore is in very very good condition. I picked up a box of .257 ammo and fire formed three rounds to be 100% sure of the chambering. I'm pretty excited about this rifle now. Can any of you guys tell me what to expect out of this chambering and what would suggest I do with this stock. I have done some work on the stock to make it look better and will continue to do more. It seems there are not many folks making sporter stocks for the Arisaka except Richards and they only list the Model 25, 6.5 Jap as one of their action inlets. I need your help and advise.
