You have to wonder when the Euros are going to get sick of that.
One of the nice things about retiring down South is you get to carry a sidearm ...and as you know I do love guns...Redneck ( ok from Brooklyn by way of California but I been naturalized) history teacher!

Arizona has been an open carry state since statehood in 1912. A few years ago law was relaxed allowing anybody that can legally purchase a firearm to also carry concealed with or without a permit. The permit allows one to instantly purchase a gun with no background check and also allows a permitted carrier to enter an establishment the serves booze. While armed one can not consume alcohol but can enjoy a good restaurant meal if they happen to also serve drinks. The biggest reason for me to have a permit are the reciprocity treaties and agreements with other states.

The past few years I'm seeing more people open carrying especially during warmer climates. They tend to carry full sized handguns like 1911's, Taurus/Beretta 92's or large frame revolvers.

If I were to open carry it would be be the 1911.

Why halfstep?

As it is a PPH 380 or a.38 derringer do it as We only have concealed carry.

Better by far than old Brooklyn..there you had to be rich...a cop..or connected..to carry

Have you considered an inside the waist band set up for your 1911? I use a wilderness instructors belt along with a DeSantis inside the waist band holster to carry concealed. My first DeSantis was for a 1911,but I switched to a Springfield XD.45 because of the 13 round magazine and it's only about an 1/8th inch wider than a 1911.

I couldn't believe that you could carry a hand gun of that size inside the waist band and even begin to conceal it and have your shirt tucked in but you sure can and it is far more comfortable than I imagined. We can carry open or concealed here in Missouri and since having found this setup I seldom carry open.

Now that I think about it I carried my 1911 like this on two vacations to Fl., wore it in the car while driving down and back and while there both times its that comfortable. Jim

In the early 70's I only carried Colt 1911's. A 45 lightweight Commander with a shoulder holster in cool months or a Series 70 Mk IV in 38 Super for open carry. Sure wish I still had them.

I prefer to carry a revolver in open carry. More often than not it is my 4" barrel S&W 41 mag. I also have a police surplus 38 Special S&W, I believe it is a model 64, D/A only with a bobbed hammer. Whomever the cop was that originally carried it, either did or had done a terrific D/A trigger job. Not the best or most powerful but for some unknown reason I just like it.

I'm currently carrying concealed using a Taurus 9MM with a laser, Model PT-111. I also have a similar sized Taurus in 45 ACP but it is unreliable with anything other than the 230gr FMJ. The Taurus handbook says it was designed for and recommended to use the 230gr FMJ's only. For a short time I carried concealed a Turk copy of the CZ. The Turk pistol is very accurate and so far has been 100% reliable. The Turk's downside is the weight, having a forged steel frame and slide with a double stack mag. Having lower back problems since my teenage years. The lighter the better on my belt.. If my back is bugging me. I stick a very lightweight 5-shot cylinder in a Taurus Titanium 38 Special in my pocket.
