FC
Anybody else hooked on the show? Do you think Bates killed Green?
FC
We also love, "The Paradise". Not sure when it is back on. We don't watch much else except Rehab Addict or Norm.
pacrat
If you are asking about Downtown Abbey..............Nope. Don't do Brit Soaps. If you are asking about "Death In Paradise" set in the Carribean starring Ben Miller as Inspector Richard............Yep loved it. but they only made 2 short seasons of it. Making a third, but waiting for it to get here after its BBC run on either PBS or Netflix.

FC
No, the Masterpiece Theater shows. No soap is sold, so not a soap opera. Those are real story lines and acting.
Gothmog
Is Green the valet who raped Anna? I am going to say, no, Bates didn't kill him ... but was in London and kept that a secret to avoid an accusation. the show is good but has it's annoying moments as politically correct notions creep in. Thomas would never have been brought back into employment for example.
FC
Actually it appears Bates did kill him. His jacket was given to the poor. Mrs. Hughs found tickets in his pocket- not to York, but to London, the day and place Greene died. Mary felt compelled to let the truth out since a man died, but when Bates saved the family honor from a scoundrel Mary threw the tickets into the fire. PC- don't like Branson's socialism being encouraged. Thomas- at least the author had the guts to make a homosexual male be portrayed as a very evil person. Granny kills us with her quips! I have to say though that Bates is my favorite character.
Gothmog
Well, I think the clues are a red herring .... only time will tell I suppose. Branson's socialism is moderating, at least, in no small part due to his interaction with his in laws. As for Thomas being a "bad guy", you may have a point. On the other hand, is his bad character implied to be the result of the intolerance shown to homosexuals at the time? In that case we have a very subtle justification taking place. Note also his rehabilitation was written into the script by making him play the hero and take a beating to spare Jimmy. In any event given his defects of character and homosexuality I strongly doubt any family at the time would have taken him back, especially after having gotten him so successfully out of the way. One would think that they would be thanking their lucky stars ... and to have Bates as the instrument of his return defies common sense. My two cents anyways ...
