He asked a girl out and she said "No" So he shot and wounded 5 people and killed himself.
Who knows if he was on any drugs or meds?
I believe in the absolute right to keep and bear arms as you all know. But keep them SECURE.
You keep your car and home locked up..do the same with your guns. There are ways to secure them that still allows you to get them if you need them.
We can Protect our rights AND use our heads.

That is a tall and difficult order to follow. I do keep most guns locked in a vault but do have some available if needed without opening up my vault. More often than not I fail to lock up my bedside 38 if I'm leaving home. I was previously burglarized. The thieves simply remove drawers and dump them. Doesn't do any good hiding something on the bottom of your underwear drawer. In my case they used a dresser drawer to haul away their booty. My photo equipment. I do have easy access to a paperless pump shotgun cleverly hidden and chances are good it will not be found. I keep it stored with an empty chamber and the first round in the tube mag is rubber buckshot. I have a few greasy Mausers I do not keep in my vault. I removed the bolts. attached an ID tag and keep the bolts in my vault. When my grand kids visit I immediately lock up my night stand revolver and my wife puts her purse out of reach.

A now retired auto mechanic I know. Despite keeping everything in a vault. Thieves took his cutting torch from his locked garage and used it to relieve him of his Martini collection. Thieves also helped themselves to some hi-performance Corvette parts from his restoration project. If the criminals want it bad enough. Chances are good they will figure out a way.

Always keep your cutting torch tips/head in the safe. I guess your friend knows that now. And it doesn't hurt to store your powder in there too.

He welded a piece of steel on to his cut open vault and now stores his welding equipment in it. He bought another vault for his guns. Thieves only got his long guns unable to reach for handguns in the hole they cut.

The low-life P's O S also strangled his dog with bailing wire from his garage. I have mixed feelings about powder in the vault. I'm not an explosives expert but from warnings I've read. If the powder is confined where pressure could build up if ignited. It could result in an explosion. To bad though if the bad guy bites the dust if a cutting torch sets off an explosion. During one of my X's so-called housefires. I had a 4lb keg of HERCO simply burn not explode. I did have a minor explosion. 4 or 5, 44 Mag handloads in a GI 30 cal ammo can were ignited. Swelled the can up but didn't any more damage. I was surprised that only a few cartridges were set off in the can full of handgun ammo.

I feared a burglary for quite some time after returning from the hospital after a 30 day stay. Myself and several other patients on the Cancer floor often socialized. There was a biker among us that tried continuing the relationships together after we went home. Often showing up unannounced with some bad ass looking biker friends but being extremely friendly.

Among my acquaintances was a wheel chair bound black guy. After some bikers kicked in his door. They knew exactly where he kept his pain meds. Most likely from previous visits from the biker. The victim was coaxed out of a pain pill when one of the bikers that showed up at first being friendly. Later begged the guy for something for a toothache. I don't know if he did it out of fear or just trying to be helpful. He gave the biker some pain pills giving away their location.

I have to give the victim a lot of credit as he put pressure on the hospital to contact all of us. The hospital unable by law to give out personal information like phone numbers. Finally caved in, called everybody and passing us the victim's phone number. After a few conference calls it didn't take long for everybody to put 2+2 together.

Afterward my house was like a fortress. I had handguns or shotguns easily accessible in nearly every room, including the bathrooms and even had a cheapie suicide special 22 mag stashed outside in a cushion on a swing. I only got one more visit from the biker. On the advice of my Oncologist that also treated the biker. Myself and a few others told the biker Dr's caught us abusing or over doing it with the meds. After I told him I had to visit a pain clinic every morning and only got at most a 2 day supply for weekends. He stopped being so friendly.

I believe pressure from the Dr and police the biker never showed up again unannounced. I did run into him over a year later at a Chinese take-out. His motives were more than clear as he offered up to a thousand for a month's supply of what he called "Cancer pain pills". I can admit to being fearful for quite some time if I heard a loud Harley sounding motorcycle going down my street.

A few relatives thought I was being paranoid, possibly I really was. The chemo did effect my mind and I was easily confused. If anybody showed up unannounced with kids I immediately rounded everything up putting all the guns in a locked bedroom. I could have easily has a mis-hap. On one visit my Grand kids went into my backyard and played with a Rottweiller. I forgot all about the 22 revolver in the seat cushion. Fortunately my Rottie kept them busy giving them short horsie rides.

WHOA!! Can't believe I wrote all that. I'm extremely bored, dealing with a painful back and neck. I've been pushing myself as much as possible in physical therapy. Doing everything I can to avoid the surgeon's knife. Day after I can barely move. My apologies for the long post if you made it this far.

Nothing wrong with reading that.

In fact I found it helpful. We had some renters around here that were trying far far too hard to be BFF.

I found that odd to say the least.

Hope that you feel better

Hope you feel better, Az. It's a shame a few bikers give everyone else a bad image. I've seen them too. The druggies will rip you off as soon as look at you, even within the biker community. I went to sea one time and a day or two after I left, some woman in the biker community came to my house. My roommate answered the door. She was saying she was a friend of mine and a mutual friend, etc., all bull, of course. My roommate ran her off. A couple nights later, he heard someone trying to break into the back bedroom window and saw their silhouette as they were working on it. He took an AR and dumped about 8 shots in an arc over and through the window. They never came back.

Doc the outlaw biker gangs no longer dominate the illegal drug business here in Phoenix. At least that is what I'm told. I can only assume they've been replaced by the Mexican cartels. The outlaw bikers used to pour into the Phx area during the winter months but I don't see as many any more. It is usually easy to separate the weekenders from the bad guys. The professionals that become weekend bikers usually have their motorcycles squeaky clean and fancied up with plenty of chrome. They often dress with a hard ass appearance. I'm told many of them are cops. The outlaw biker's motorcycles are usually dirty, greasy and appear well used. There have been some shoot-outs from rival gangs. Since then they rarely ride showing their colors unless they are in a large group.
