  1. Thanks, I remember reading that article a while back, but wasn't sure if the 750-800k number was a solid # or just a guideline. Thanks for the info.
  2. I was given a nicely sportized 03 Springfield reciever recently and know they generally consider 800k serial #'s and lower to be unsafe. Mine is in the 815k range. It has been nicely drilled and tapped, with a really nice high polish blue. It has obviously been together in this form due to some raceway bluing wear. Is there a general consensus that this would be safe? If I did build something would most likely be a low pressure round. I know failure rates were very miniscule, and this action has most likely been used up until several years ago, but wanted to get a few more opinions on it. I've built many rifles, just never messed around with 03's.
  3. I have not tried to dye any devcon, but I know you can color fiberglass resin or acra-glass with Coaco powder.
  4. I'm a fan of Timney triggers, but I do have a bold on one of my 98's. It's not my most accurate, but it will hold just over 1/2". I have heard of people complaining about something to do with the housing of the bolds is not as strong as the timneys, and tend to loosen after time, and there are a few plastic parts in there if I recall. I just built up a 1936 Mexican Mauser for my wife and put a bold on it. I have yet to stock it, but expect good things.
