30 Carbine Tip

I recently picked up a 30cal m-1 carbine.

Neat little rifle but I was disapointed by frequent jams, mostly when the bolt was stripping a round from the left side of the magazine. After watching it cycle dozens of times I concluded the rims were catching on the plunger type ejector. The end of the ejector apeared to be battered and misshaped.

I got a new ejector and spring from Numrich and after installing them the rifle cycles flawlessly.

Hope this helps someone else.

Great advice!! The M-1 Carbine will shoot out of battery with the bolt not quite all the way home. Need to be cautious if having feeding issues. I recently horse traded mine away. I had an Iver Johnson. The Iver Johnson's parts are completely interchangeable with US GI and I added a bayonet lug. Where the Ivers are weak is the operating rod. The Ivers are cast where US GI are forged. The Iver's operating rods are prone to breakage especially if slam fired.

I hated to give my M-1 up but was offered an older but near mint condition, Marlin 45/70 in a straight across trade. It is a pre-Remlin with the original half cock safety instead of the Mickey Mouse button. Friend of mine has a legal M-2. I only got to shoot it on one occasion. Two 15rd mags with the selector in the "fun" position.

No problem Karl. Rather than waiting for you to come this way. Bring it to a FFL, have him send my way then you can pick it up when you visit Arizona. Oh... don't forget to include plenty of ammo, extra mags and a small deposit for the weekly storage fees.
