FC
Frontier Airlines probably has a motto of, "Sux to be you!" I was in a one hour traffic jam coming into Atlanta. They took 15 minutes to check in one family's baggage. Costs ten bucks more to carry on a bag, so I prepaid. I made the cutt-off, ran to the gate, and it was closed. Girls at the next counter were no help. I went back to ticketing and found the supervisor. My bag was on the way to Austin, with expensive hearing aids and my truck keys in the bag. She called baggage and asked what I was going to do? I didn't know yet. I found a hotel room, and booked on the next day's flight, which cost $75. Never mind I made the cutt-off to check-in, and ran half the way there. I was given a number for Austin baggage and called three times- no answer. This morning I called Frontier to complain. No help, no $75 back. The phone message said, "We're here to serve you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." Right! Baggage doesn't work weekends! I kept pressing the girl where my baggage was? How do I get it? No help. I'm fed up with that Airline. I never have had a problem with Delta.
FC
Well, a lady from Austin called me. At least she did that. She "thinks" my luggage is here in Atlanta, but doesn't know. Since I'm already in a crappy mood I wrote to a guy who said he would call me the next day about a job (over two months ago). He then sent an email saying he was busy, but would get back with me very soon. He never did. I wrote this to him: "Sir, Here are my experiences with VA: Nurse recruiter doesn't answer the phone, and doesn't have voice mail. I waited for a phone call from you which did not come the next morning, as promised. You wrote a week later saying you had a busy week, but you would get back with my soon. That didn't happen. Waiting still for my VA physical appointment for Army retirement. Turned down for well over a dozen VA jobs. Printed and carried a copy of my military medical history for two months in my truck for a VA separation appointment. I was asked on the day of the appointment why I was there! I was also told the man did not need my medical records. I have a bad impression of VA, and I'm not applying anymore for VA jobs." His response? Sorry to hear about your bad experiences with VA. Some things are outside of their control. He hopes my next experience is a great one!
ken98k
My guess is that the VA is overwhelmed. It seems if you claim PTSD, then you get $1,500 per month for life. There is probably a long line signing up for that. I know this cause I work with a vet that gets it.
AzRednek
Tony I'm just speculating. If you're looking for a job with VA and getting the run around. Chances are good they are looking for a younger person or a minority to fill the jobs you're applied for. They will never say it as they fear an age discrimination suit. If you want to shake things up write a Senator advising him of your dilemma. I had a bad experience with Southwest Airlines. Arriving barely in time only to discover the flight was over booked. As flights from Phonix to Vegas run nearly every hour. I was promised a flight on the next airline. The next flight was also over booked. The third flight I just walked past the check in, ignored "sir" after handing her the wrong boarding pass and took a seat. SWest does not use reserve seating. In Vegas I found my suit was still going around a carousel and my suit case in a lost and found section.
karlunity
Yep..I suspect that you don't fit the AA /gender target. I had that some problem with DOD schools a few moons ago. Hope you get your bags..I lost a seabag on an airline 40 some years ago So far as I know, it is still out there. karl
Dr.Hess
Yeah, claim PTSD, get 1500 a month for life and a lifetime ban on gun ownership. It's coming.
brokengun
Yea that's why they give you $1500 a month just so they can take your gun right.
karlunity
Sure claim the money...Of course in order to protect you and the community we will have to take your guns. You DO have PTSD right? You were not committing a felony and trying to defraud Uncle were ya? Of course when you are "cured" the checks stop and you can get your rights back ..Just pass a little test Uncle will give ya. FC
VA guy at that appointment asked me twice if I have PTSD? Nope! My bag showed up! So glad! I just don't even want to work for VA now. It would look bad to be associated with them!
karlunity
Smart answer...good think you think before you speak. i think it would depend on the VA location....I have never had a problem with them in FL. In fact they are better than my HMO in Cali was. karl
AzRednek
I just don't even want to work for VA now. It would look bad to be associated with them! Tony VA could use honest people like you.
ken98k
Ya Doc, that's what I told my coworker when I heard what he'd done. It kind of ticked me off because I had just given him an Apache 66. I told him about the mental illness question on gun forms but, I guess PTSD doesn't count?
karlunity
PTSD doesn't count?.. It may well not count for NOW ken98K, but when and if the antis take control of the Congress or the WH again? I suspect it can and will change at the stroke of a pen. karl
Dr.Hess
You guys remember the HIPAA law? Some kind of BS about people looking at medical records at the nursing station without permission? It was all bullshit. The real parts of the law are the complete access to all your medical records by insurance companies and the government. Electronic access, and they don't have to tell you or even ask your permission. That means that the PTSD diagnosis or mild depression or whatever diagnosis someone gets today will be searchable by the government. Oh, look PTSD after we sent you to Iraq 40 years ago. No guns for you. It's coming.
FC
Wonder if depression will count too? I had a pointless VA phone call a few minutes ago. No help on why my retirement physical isn't set up.
Dr.Hess
Depression will absolutely count. That's a big one. PTSD is going to be minor for banning firearms compared to depression. Don't want them shooting themselves because they're depressed when they can fly a 747 into a mountain instead. It's for their own good, after all. FC
Little different subject, but still our wonderful government. I got a notification saying I don't meet the minimum education requirements for an ambulatory nursing job!! Of course, there's no one to contact about that. karlunity
is there a site where you can verify that? You have a rather current MS.and about 20 years experience? So ...I would double check. karl In any case as a Lt. Col with over 20 you have to have some sort of pension and medical, so dont stress your self into a heart attack pal. Keep an eye out for a position ..but enjoyed being retired. karl
AzRednek
Of course, there's no one to contact about that.Tony I worked for the fed govt long enough to know if you want an answer. Put the question through a Senator's office directed at whomever signed the letter they sent to you. I'm with Karl, don't stress over it.
