Pre 94 Ban Ar

I paid little attention to the details at the time. My dad and I were watching the vote on c span at the time and I was amazed that I could buy an AR. Apparently although I am leery of claiming firsthand knowledge they are stamped .223 on the receiver, the barrel has a very noticeable stamping of 5.56 nato on the barrel.

I did mention in previous posts that my dad was a WWII vet, he did mention at the time we were watching this vote that I should join the NRA. I did. Life member, proud of it, and I do need to make a donation. Most young fellers out there are probably as clueless as I was that they could buy such a magnificent firearm.

Spread the word. I have no children, so my nephew may be my only hope to share our forefathers vision for the future.

During the 94-04 "ban" period, you just couldn't get a new one with a flash suppressor on the end. You had to get a muzzle brake instead, and buy used mags. That was about it.

From what I heard on talk radio a few days ago. If Feinstein's bill passes as written. Muzzle brake instead of a flash suppressor, thumb hole stock instead of a pistol grip and a couple other things I just can't recall at the moment. What Feinstein describes as "loop holes" in the original ban will be closed. I wonder how many lives were saved with the original prohibition of bayonet lugs!! I've only heard one anti with the testicular fortitude to admit it. I can't recall the name, a male spokesman from the Brady Bunch. Was quoted saying, it is the personality of the gun owners desiring such features he fears, not bayonet lugs or flash suppressors. I give the guy credit for speaking his mind. Usually the antis or somebody from the Brady Bunch responds with some rhetorical baloney. "If it only saved the life of one child, wouldn't it be worth it".
