Sailormilan2
I finally finished my son's Garand, that I have been working on for a couple of years. It started life as a rack grade woodless Dane with a shot out barrel. I bead blasted it, and reparked it. When Boyds put their WW2 style Garand stocks on sale last year I got one for it. Then to make it a shooter till I found a decent barrel, I screwed on an import marked LMR barrel. But when the CMP put the NIW barrels up for sale last year, I got one. Unfortunately, by the time it got here, the gun was semi permanently locked up in my safe due to a broken lock. I finally got the lock repaired, and got the barrel screwed on. Chambering took about 2 turns of the reamer. When I refinished the main receiver parts, I forgot to refinish the -6 SA(cut) op rod, which would be the proper one for this receiver. So, it now wears a RA buillt NM marked op rod. My son likes the contrasting colors. The black op rod, medium to dark finish receiver, and lighter color on the bolt(I don't know what happened to the bolt color). Rifle still lacks a rear sight aperature, but it is on the way. Final finish required a few extra parts that I didn't have laying around. I ordered some from Numrich, and was not happy with them. Reparked over large pits. I got a few parts from Sarco, and while there was a bit of wear, they were in much better condition. Hopefully we can test it by the end of the week.
