I was looking for a source of exotic woods for stock projects. I found this one, but does anyone have another or a better source?

I was looking for caps, forearms and inlay material.

Hey 8uck, did you check with the local lumber mill here in Frankfort? I have a friend that works there and he tells me they always have some "scrap" pieces they are willing to part with on the cheap and free. I was going to ask him about it anyway when I got my carving tools. If anything I know he has some stuff that would make great practice pieces. I don't know if they have anything considered exotic but I'll check with him and let you know.

I did not think of the sawmill down in Frankfort. Forgot that was there. They probably have local hardwoods like walnut, maple, and even some cherry. Those all make nice looking stocks from what I have seen. Do they kiln dry any of there stock?

Anything that changes color on the stock and creates contrast would be cool. I am still banging away at the semi-shaped blank for the Carcano. It is looking good, but I am scaling the woodworking back a little, cause it is goig veerrry slowly. Inletting this by hand is one royal pain in the butt. May just use a maple or birch for the end caps instead of going all out like a I planned.
