  1. I'm sorry for letting this post go so long without posting a reply.....been busy at work. As Rod said.......We could hold the bolt during tigging. Not even close to being hot. Rod has welded bolts for me and he will do more. I know that welding was not an issue. If any of you have seen Rods equipment and knowlege on welding then some of the question would not be asked. I am no expert welder...If you want it to hold I can do it. If I want it tobe done correct...I call Rod, as he knows. Back on the subject. My son missed a once in a lifetime Buck. Went to open bolt and no go. Could only open half way.. Took it home and gave it a little help. ejector side totally broke off and other side was cracked and did not take much to take it off. Primer is not popped or cratered or flattened....if anything it is cupped. I will post pics later of case. No bulge nothing fell out after bolt was out. As Rod stated I am very careful.....especially when my children life is at stake. I never drop a load from a measure...only powder being used is on bench and I test every bach myself before my son uses them. Every load is trickled. Cases are eyeballed for same level of powder. I am not saying I don't make mistakes. But I do all checks when loading. This scared the poop out of me. I am no expert and this is why I am asking for ideas of why this would happen. Rod thanks for posting the pics....as I am also computer Stupid.
  2. Just my 2cents. Send your bolt to tanglewood16137 A.K.A. Rod. He does many for me and the last one he did he copied a commercial to a T. I mean perfect. When I hold my commercial side by side they are alike. Just my 2cents. Also he is pretty close to you.
  3. Hi, Sorry to here of your bad luck. Some of us are not meant to be welders......I too can not weld that great. I send mine to Rod "tanglewood16137". He does nice work. I have watched him do it and makes it look easy. You would be suprised how much time goes into 1 bolt. Good luck.
  4. Do I here STICKY!! Great tutorial. To bad I'll never have to use it because Rod does mine. Cause I'm to sceeeeeerrrrreed. Plus my welding sucks
  5. I used 1000 and a 4 flute end mill. Worked geat.
  6. Thank guys. Have not shot it yet. Going to shoot it on Wednesday. I'll post a range report when I do.
  7. Here is my first complete build. Rod did the bolt to copy a factory bend. It is a 7-08. A&B barrel blank bold trigger boyds stock and m48 action, I used a ptg reamer. Did it all on my South bend 9a.
  8. Rod, your gonna get me in trouble
  9. GREAT TUTORIAL......Just one question. I have the same jig, and I used it to mount an FN base to my mauser that the hump was removed, and it was a half a hole off. Will the jig work for over the hump mount? I thought the hole spacing was the same on both types of mounts. Or did you move the jig back after you drilled the first holes?
