FC
Just thought of how stuff we experienced is lost on the young: What number did we call for emergencies before 911? What's a station-to-station call? What's a person-to-person call? What's a collect call? What's a party line?

AzRednek
My favorite was calling person to person collect on April Fools Day. I did that after Western Union stopped sending collect telegrams. My mark would get the telegram or collect call, agree to pay and get the "Happy April Fools Day" message. AzRednek
Actually my phone when I was young were two Dixie cups and kite string. The Dixie cups resonated the sound and vibrations much better than tin cans.
FC
I told the CIO, who is in his 30's, "I'm getting out of Dodge". He had no idea what I was talking about!
