Finally got the chamber reamed and the bore broken in. I have some test loads made up but the range I have access to is closed until the end of turkey season or his nephew fills his tags.

Like Dr.Hess I got a 7x57 barrel from Midway and it worked great. Fyrd

Well, I ordered the standard reamer, not the match chamber reamer. As soon as I have some shooting results I will report back. thanks for all the input. Fyrd

I am afraid you may be correct. Many of the old school artisans/artist trades have been made obsolete by industrialization. Like butchers, bakers, blacksmiths and other once common and necessary trades, gunsmithing's customer base is shrinking as automation replaces the human touch. A mixed blessing at best. Fyrd

Yes, I saw the reamer club but aren't ready to jump in quite yet. And you are probably correct that a standard chamber is the way to go at this point, but, you know.... greedy..... Fyrd

Well, my greed and petulance is coming out. I always want as much accuracy as possible. However, one of the reasons for building a 308 in the first place is to be able to use military ammunition. (Because anything a 308 can do, an '06 can do better.) so.... I am probably trying to have my cake and eat it too. Just an FYI, I have an email to Pacific Tools pending. If they respond I will post the results here. Fyrd
