The only way he can buy an AR-15 is if the bottom of the mag well is welded shut and load by lifting the upper and load it from the top. The mag well has to have a block preventing more than 10 rds. He claimed it took weeks to get green lighted by Frisco to buy a Remington 870 with extended mag tube. He was unaware at the time he could have made the purchase in an adjacent county, beat most of the red tape and saved over a hundred bucks. My friend claimed a neighbor had to take his mag fed SKS out of the state as a law was enacted prohibiting it. He was unsure but believes the only way an SKS can now be sold in the entire state is with a fixed mag. He was uncertain about AK's but presumes they are either prohibited or loaded in a manner similar to the AR's. He told me about a small California town where a 444 Marlin was used in a crime. Deputies knocked on everybody's door in the area that had ever purchased a 444. Those that did not voluntarily give them to police got another visit a few weeks later with a court order requiring the rifle be temporarily surrendered to police. The court order did not specify a time frame. He claimed the Sheriff's Office kept the 444's for well over a year long after lab tests were completed. My friend was pretty sure it took a law suit before the rifles were returned. Police did not deliver the rifles, simply notified owners by post card where and when with a 90 window. What is required is that push button magazine release be converted to a "bullet button". Which is nothing more than a modified button that takes some form of tool to operate. Even the tip of a bullet, hence the name "bullet button". That is actually the old style way of doing things, before they figured out the bullet button. Bullet buttons have been out for about 10 years now. However, once someone does that, one is limited to only using magazines of 10rds. Larger ones will work, but then, since the rifle is now has a "fixed magazine", one cannot use anything greater than 10 rds. As for the seizing of Marling .444. Before I retired, there was a news flash that the Police in Oklahoma(I think it was Oklahoma City) demanding that anyone who had a certain make and caliber firearms to bring them in for testing as a similar one had been involved in a crime. I later turned to CNN and MSNBC after Fox became redundant. It made my blood boil. Everything from holiday party, holiday tree, those with a radical agenda, can't rule out workplace violence, extremely powerful automatic weapons of war and high capacity assault pistols. Any possible way to dance around words like Christmas. Religious fanatics with a radical agenda being careful not to say Islam or Muslim. Mideast contacts were named foreign or overseas connections. The woman was a foreigner here legally on a green card and was cleared by Homeland Security vetting may have been a victim of domestic violence. I could go on and on but the biggest misleading whopper of them all "social media terrorism". Sorry if the paragraph I just wrote doesn't make sense. I grew angry writing it. My wife is correct, I'm turning into a news junkie. Just for the hell of it and some comic relief. About 9 or so o'clock. I turned on Al Jazeera News. They were doing a report shrimp and shell fish. The only thing significant mentioned in a news break was a report on the US Military opening combat positions to women and opposition from the head of the Marine Corps being over ridden by Obama. Bullet buttons have been out for about 10 years now. I believe he may have been AR shopping before the bullet buttons were around. The area he lives in is just outside of San Francisco. He also has to deal with gun law made by the county, even tougher than California state law he claims. He mentioned when he picked up the shotgun. Having to go through a cooling off period because the shotgun was considered non sporting. The gun shop told him the law required him to leave the shotgun in the box on the ride home. She is an honest and bright kid, so that may well be. BUT this is where she and I part company enough muslims hold that classic view and the Koran does call Jihad war. That they are a danger that we must react to. She told me that our "fear" of the islam is the problem. I replied that we do not fear the islam but if they do not get their house in order, they will soon HAVE reason to fear us. FC Posted December 13, 2015 Report Share Posted December 13, 2015 Actually our only hope is the Liberty Ammendments. Without a change to our Constitution nothing will change for good. It would force Congress to create a budget or lose funds, diminish the power of agencies, put term limits on the Supreme Court justices and representatives, and restore balance of powers. One man can't change things much, or for long. I'd grant that there are a few candidates beside Trump that could do the job, but without the communication power. Rush had a caller that brought up something interesting. He said that in "The Art of the Deal" you ask for something outrageous, then you end up with what you really want.
