Worse.

have you seen the pics of the Mil sup ammo that they sell with it?

I was told that firms put pictures of the best mil sup they have in ads if that is so, and that is the best mil sup ammo they have, I would hate to see the worst.

I've been dealing with J&G long before they moved to Arizona. Without writing long details. They have a tendency to exaggerate their advertising. For what its worth, valueless if dealing long distance with UPS surcharge for ammo. I can say in favor of J&G. Friend got J&G to exchange at their front counter what their ad claimed to be good shootable ammo. J&G exchanged one for one the rounds with dented primers that failed to fire. My first screwing came in the late 80's. A S&W pistol advertised with two mags. One of the factory mags was replaced with a ten round after-market mag. The rebate card was also gone and according to S&W, already used. S&W claimed because of the bait and switch, J&G was no longer an official S&W distributer.

Yeah, dark frosted "shootable" barrel. Uh-huh. And a replacement barrel is three hundred, last I looked a couple weeks ago. Now you have five bills in the thing.

Sporting a mil-surp unless it is really something special has always been a losing deal dollar-wise. Can't put into dollars though the value and self satisfaction of something one has built.

Someone needs to buy one of those...and "Sport" it.

Then sell the Stock to me!!!!!!

Edit; Forgot to add....Cheap!!!!!!

Times have really changed. Years ago, about the time I joined this group. Myself and others often gave away the mil-surp stocks for the cost of postage. I gave away two stocks and factory barrels from Czech 98/22's.

I still have a weakness for nice sporters

This was on an Arizona gun group, an 03 with Mannlicher type stock. It appears to be walnut with 1950's type sling swivel. He wanted $275 or a straight across trade for an inline muzzle loader. He emailed back saying I missed it by a few minutes but would contact me if the guy turned up with as he put it "a piece of sh!t". No such luck, after pressing him for a yes or no. Got a "sorry its gone" email.

I bet the stock and nose cap alone would easily fetch the 275 or more on Ebay.

Yes I too am guilty...Probably had the small ring spanish stock at one time!!

I only have a Turk '38 to finish sporting out...and maybe one small ring '95.

Otherwise, I'm putting "stockers" on the wall...and then only a couple and Done.

Of course...the wood is what I don't have!!!!

Small ring Spanish and !! OMG!!! A K98, which I may as well pound sand as find that Wood!!! Would love a "corrrect" DOU 44 stock but, Probably going to Settle for any old Half-Baked semi-correct "stuff"..

Gun Show here I come!!!

Times have changed indeed

recall the Turk ammo and the 5 fors??

I've got some deals on ammo from J&G. Usually find somebody to split a deal to make the 90 minute each way drive worth it. I'm like a kid though in a candy store while in J&G's showroom and have rarely walked out of there with only what brought me there.

At Arizona gun shows J&G's tables always draw crowds. I've discovered that I need to print out J&G's ad because they will jack up ammo prices at gun shows. J&G nearly always have a quantity prices. If one doesn't speak up they conveniently forget.

J&G's Turk 8MM has proven to be reliable, good shooting ammo. Some Turk 765 bought in the mid 70's was not only junk but dangerous. Nearly always a hang fire. Get a dud, one quickly learned how fast they could eject the round. Never had a mis-hap ejecting the 765. If I remember right we paid about 20 cents per 5-rounds on a stripper clip. Been to many years to recall exactly but I do recall needing to order over a thousand to get the low-ball price.

Two friends and I loaded up on Greek and Korean 06 on M-1 clips a few years ago. Only problem and I can't recall from which country. The primers and primer pockets were just a hair to large for the standard .210 USA large rifle. Being the cheapskate I am and having way to much time on my hands at the time. I reloaded and shot successfully using a tad of Lock-Tite to hold the primers. I haven't deprimed the Lock-Tited primers yet.

Friend of a friend was on a CNN camera crew when we invaded Panama. He spent a few days following an Army Officer that was paying cash to civilians that tuned over their firearms. He claimed the majority of the guns turned into cash were US military, pistols and rifles. The camera guy was not a gun person and the only thing he recognized was a Tommy Gun. Might have been the Commie submachine gun with drum mag. He claimed the guns were turned over to the US Navy then dumped at sea on the way home.

Just a guess but I can strongly speculate Battista's Cuba likely had a nice cache of US military weapons. Hopefully Castro regime had more sense than the US Navy and kept them. I recall reading the majority of the USA manufactured H&R Resing submachine guns after it turned into a dud. Went to Batista's army and police. We'll never see the Resings but I bet a bunch of M-1's and 03's went there as well.

From Iran, I see cosmo covered, mint Persian Mausers and Brit Enfields!! I can only hope!!

OK gotta question for you educated guys!! Is it "sub machinegun" or "submachine gun"??
