St. Bubba's

We're going to head out to TX, way out in cattle country, to work on our new acquistion, which I lovingly refer to as St. Bubba's. It's a former Church of Christ, 1912. Looks like to get it functional, counting purchase price, will be less than $100,000. Vinyl siding needs to go at some point, and cost does not include garage/workshop. The arched windows are 16 feet tall. Leveling cost $19,500, which hurt. The clay soil moves, so it was way off kilter. Lots of pews and yard sale type stuff inside to sell. I have no idea if we're going to live there. Have to see how we feel about it later. It's a little over an hour east of Waco.

Karl,

I told you to check out NW Arkansas. Plenty of shootin' round here. For example, I am limited by visibility to 50 yards on my property. But 50 yards is plenty, and a whole lot better than zero yards.

But, NOOO, you wanted to experience Florida Man.

The Hippy had old friends here...One look at them big eyes and I admit I was lost...

You also warned me about giving away my ammo as I recall :(

So I am talking her into moving...seems her girlhood BBF may move so if we move again I get to pick

I'm so busy fixing stuff and restoring furniture to sell that I don't shoot much.

Gas gets a lot cheaper as you go west. In TX today there were a couple gas stations out of gas, but 90% have gas, and a lot cheaper than the southeast.

I stuck estate sale signs out day one and it went nuts. $1600, but not one pew sold. $100 yesterday with the sign out a couple hours. We'll see if the ads I put out get some pews sold. Shiplap stem to stern, ceilings invluded. There's termite damage by the doors.

People are pleasant in the south, but here people put to shame anywhere else I've lived. They don't look like much, arent thast educated, and don't have much, but are friendly and giving. One guy told me to leave the rubble outide and he'd pick it up and take it to his burn pit free! Two other people brought us stuff to drink. It was really hot. People here are willing to do manual labor. I hired a high school boy, and he's a good worker. In SC it's hard sometimes to find people to do menial labor. The only problem I have here is neighbor lady has hogged the pseudo alley and made a dog memorial where I need garage access. She parks a school bus there too.

Other than one set of neighbors lying about the property line and alley. I'm impressed. Old fella with heart problems managing the RV park brought us a trash can, then returned it to the camper later. Then he came back and gave us a major refund from us "overpaying"!

We'll talk to the town council Monday about the doggie grave and memorial site, and parking in the alley/easement. No way I can putell a garage in the way they are blocking access.
