  1. winter camo? check! http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/44951001/ns/today-relationships/t/he-turned-exs-wedding-dress-book-success?gt1=43001
  2. yeah, good ol' fritz! sure not as exciting without him
  3. i hated that kit. the spring was formed wrong and the block looked terrible. ymmv
  4. just got this guy back last week. not a very big bear, but my first "black" black bear. the others i've shot have been color phase. i am ECSTATIC with this mount! it's a research mannikin form, modified with a closed mouth and relaxed paws. i want to add a branch with a hornets nest on it, but it's great as is for the moment. shot this guy while blood trailing a deer. he was running down the trail at me and i shot him at 15 yards.
  5. what kind of steel is that don? looks like a nice project.
  6. my condolences. tough time, for sure. best of luck, bud. heath
  7. we're doing really well! about ready to come off the CPAP, the arm IV is out, all the cords are out of the umbilical stump and what bleeding shawn has in his head is no worse than before and looks to be rectifying itself! it's hard to fathom it's been almost a week. to see him off all the stuff when they/we're changing him and repositioning... to see him looking around and wiggling like a kid should makes the worrying kinda worth it. some day this will all just be part of what makes shawn shawn. if any of you're interested, you can visit his caringbridge site. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/shawnharmon i update is pretty much everyday to keep friends and family up to date. thanks for all the well wishes! heath
  8. that's way rough bud. i went through that a little over a year ago. absolutely heartbreaking to see your best friend suffer like that. i can tell you i bawled my eyes out when the vet came out to the house. copper was 13 years old or so (i have issues keeping track of dog years... he was 4 for 6 years! :^) and quite literally my best friend. he stopped eating, lost probably 20 pounds and just kinda shut down. it's rough, but you really owe it to your friend. cry. and remember all the good times you had with your bud. memories are the best way to help you through the pain. heath
  9. thanks all. two good days and one, well, less good. they had to intubate him last night when he stopped breathing. not uncommon, just sucks. they want to extubate him tomorrow and hopefully that goes well! there was also a bit of cranial bleeding, again, pretty common, but sucks. it was on the low end of the scale for amount, which is good for bleeding, but not as good as not bleeding! we'll know more as time goes on...
  10. well, we're 11.5 weeks early, but so far so good! my wife's membrane broke on wednesday. she was in the hospital for a couple days with plans to be in there until the baby came... well, i got the call this morning she was having contractions! they were trying to halt the progress, but it wasn't really working. doc came in to check her cervix and exclaimed "OH! well, you're having a kid today. there's a hand sticking out." so, down the road to the other hospital with a NICU we went. an hour and four pushes later, we had a little (LITTLE) boy! 2 pounds, 9 ounces. he cried right off the bat and they took him upstairs. we went to see him after a while and took this pic. when we went back tonight, he had graduated from the CPAP mask to just the nostril tube with his O2 still 96-99% at room oxygen levels! so far so good! heath
  11. I've been playing with ideas I haven't seen before. This is my latest effort. 8.75" OAL A2 cut from 1.25" round stock Paul Bos HT to 60-61 Amboyna handle w/ a bit of epoxy fill and Minwax finish / Johnson wax topcoat Brick & Black vulcanized liners Colored Mosaic Pin-stock Hand-stitched leather sheath I've got a bunch of hours in this one, and the recipient better like it! Most of the profiling was done on a portaband in a SWAG offroad table. Then came hand files, a sanding drum in my drill press, a 1x42 belt and lots of sandpaper. I know there are some flaws in the metalwork. that inside curve is a pain to get to! I have more learning to do with finishing. It's a chunky piece, but balances on your index finger in the finger groove. Sharpened on a Lansky sharpener and leather 1x42 belt. Heath
  12. eh. i'm not worried. meat is easy to get, veggies easy to grow, etc. if i lived in a highrise in LA or NY? yeah, it might concern me some.
