Modifying Military Trigger?

Kyle

Recommended Posts

I'm working on my Gew 88 project and I'm wondering about the trigger. There is no such thing as a replacement trigger so I'll have to use the original military trigger. Any ideas on how I can make this trigger the best it can possibly be?

In the photo below you can see what a Gew 88 trigger assembly looks like.

You can find any number of mods for mil triggers.

Most will be a trade-off between feel travel creep etc.

Before you go and make any major changes I suggest that

you try "slickening-up" the original trigger first.

Here is what I mean...

At least on a '98' trigger that's had some use the "humps"

for the first and second stage will have flat spots worn on their

tops. Polish off the flats so that the humps are rounded again.

Make sure the assembly is well oiled.

The coup-de-graw that I've been using is a dab of never seze

as a lube on the "humps". That stuff is sticky and long wearing.

Lastly make sure that the sear engagement is well polished and true.
