Horsefly
Thinking real hard about buying a piece at a time and wondered what ya'll thought about it.I know buying a whole complete rifle would be the most economical way,but $10.00 to $20.00 here and there doesn't sting like $150.00 mim. plus shipping, and besides,I wouldn't be tearing up a rifle some collector wants.Just an idea,so what-chu cats think? J.B
I would get a barreled action, or a bubbaed rifle, but I would rather use a barreled action. I would get a barreled action, and get or make a stock for it, then go from there. You are correct about a complete rifle being economical, but in the end, you will end up ruining a collectible rifle and losing money on it. J.B
That might be a good one for sporting. If I were to sport a japanese rifle, I would just use a regular reciever and barrel.
roscoedoh
Jerry, It sounds like you need to go pawn shoping one weekend. I'd bet you could find a good jap sporter wearing good wood, an aftermarket trigger, and a scope for a couple hundred bucks. I see them down here selling cheaper than .22's and 30-30's in pawn shops fairly regularly. I know that'd sting more than $20 here and there, but it'd be more than likely be the cheapest way to get into a jap rifle you wanted to customize. -Jason
J.B
I would avoid pawn shops just for the fact that you may be buying someone elses problems. Although you might be able to find a good sported jap in one.
riceone
I have three barreled receivers (no bolts) with commercial barrels I would like to part with. Two have Springfield 30-06 barrels and one has a 22-250. They have the mums and I think I have the bottom hardware but no screws. If interested $40 each plus shipping. I can post pictures if need to. I gave $40 apeice for them and hauled them home from Arizona. riceone.

I've got a new rifle. Its a T38 Series 28 that never had a mum but is stamped with an elongated "M" to denote non military use. riceone. Horsefly
Done deal Riceone, and thanks so much! That new rifle is top shelf. The metal looks perfect, and the wood looks like a good piece of walnut, but didn't they use teak ? It looks strange but so nice too me to see lettering where the mum should be or a ground off spot.Very nice gun. Jerry
