tinkerfive
I have the Wheeler jig. It has the correct spacing for a 1 piece 4 hole base or 2 piece bases. Unless I've been using it wrong the rear screw on the front ring lands forward of the locking lug face. Lately I've been noticing more guns that are drilled such that the rear screw on the front ring lands behind the lug face and into the body of the lug. I don't think that you could use a 1 piece base with this arrangement and I question drilling into the body of the locking lug. SOooooo..... Is there a right or wrong location of the two mentioned? As long as you miss the face of the locking lug is everything kosher? Tinker
donmarkey
Into the lug recess not the lug seat is the safe way to drill without weakening the action. -Don
weaver77
like Don said the rear hole on the receiver ring should be in front of the lug seat the ones you saw drilled and tapped into the lug seat where done incorrectly james
