simple Trigger mod

This was easy but the results are great, adjustments are for pull and overtravel. now it is single stage and has no creep and stops right as it drops I trimmed about 2 coils off of the spring ,drillied and tapped for 6-32 screw. you have to temper(heat red with mapp or oa and let cool slowly) the trigger and sear first or its too hard to drill through. you drill in the center of the spring cap or whatever its called and the forward piece thats cut out at the front top of the trigger after you grind it back so theres enough meat for the screw.

Good photos and explaination!

An added benefit of this modification - or any use of the original trigger - over an after market adjustable trigger is that you don't have to do as much inletting of the critical web between magazine and wrist / tang. Approach this or any modification of the trigger / sear / cocking piece with care though and ALWAYS finish any adjustment with an application of locktite or similar thread locking compound. Also keep in mind that "hair triggers" while adding to accurate shooting are not recommended for "a hunting rifle." A lot can happen in the field and a too light trigger is an accident waiting to happen. You're much better off learning to control the squeeze of your existing trigger and over come flinching than depending on a crisply adjusted one.

Bubbamauser,

Your grinding back of the trigger to make room for drilling and tapping is an important innovation. Can you explain in more detail how you did it?

I've always added some silver solder, but that's a PITA and looks like hell.

VERY nice looking trigger (and bolt, etc) work!
