Friday I just got my 2 stocks ordered in May. Not Happy it took so long but was worth the wait. They are from Richards Microfit. They did a 1st class job on the inletting. I just pressed them in a bit to take a few pics. There are no gaps anywhere. Must fight urge to tap with a mallet and run to the range. I have spend days in the past getting an action in a stock. It shouldn't take more than a hour to get these to fit right. The 1st is of my daugthers Savage in .243Win. She picked the wild stock. Just click on the pics to enlarge.

The 2nd is my 93 Mauser in .300Sav. Again no gaps, just very little work for great fit.

The bolt on the 93M is the first one I have ever done. I also took the charger hump off.

I have been reading alot of great advice here and thought I would do all the work myself. Thanks all !!!

Skeeter you did a great job on the bolt, can't wait to see the finished rifle. I'm using a turk action to build a .300 savage also. What brand barrel did you use? I have an ER Shaw, the only bad thing was it took 4 months and 6 days to get it and another in .250 Savage. BTW, I just took a nice buck with a 99savage in .300........................Scott

Nice job for sure. It's these member guns that keep me pluggin away at mine. Totally agree with sonic, nuthin you can buy will give you the same feeling as what you've done with that 93. Way cool that your daughters into it with you.

Thanks all. Still much work to do.

Scott...not sure what kind of barrel it is. Looks like a takeoff set-back and turned down to a lighter weight. The bore looks brand new. Got it for $20 at a gun show.

I would rather a 98M but got the 93 action for $50, Barrel $20, Rings and bases $12, Stock AA fancy 2nd $89 (I think). The project is under $200 so far. I have to get a scope and have it blued yet.

As for why we do it? Having a custom firearm built to my feel and liking. To add iceing on the cake, in this case for under $300 (minus scope). Thats cheaper than my dauthers brand new Savage.

You daughter is really going to be proud of the rainbow stock. Make sure and post some pics after you apply the finish. I saw one of the wild stocks in a Ruger 10/22 at the range awhile back and it looked pretty sharp. The shooter I believe said it was from Richard's and called the psychedelic.
