  1. I used one on a mauser 98 and it was a piece of junk. 5" groups at 100 yds. switched to a cole lite stock and groups dropped to 1.5" at 100yds. My 2 cts they are not worth the money.
  2. Nobody could ever forget Penny. One of my favorites was Larado. One of the actors was Neville Brand I think, I cannot remember the other two. Ken
  3. The other guy was George Maharis or something like that. Most of route 66 has been abandoned. Its a shame that alot of the old highways are closeing. My family drove most of 66 in the early 1960s, Ill. to Bakersfield Ca. You saw the country and how people lived on those roads. 1 What was the name of Sky Kings Plane? 2 What was the name of the rock opera by the Who? 3 the name of Roy Rogers ranch was? 4 "What time is it? Its _____ _____ time." 5 Black Jack was? 1 the Song Bird 2 Tommy 3 Double R Bar ranch 4 Howdy Doody 5 gum Ken
  4. Everyone is doing well. The baby had her days and nights mixed up for a couple days which led to some long nights. I laughed because I spent my share of nights walking babies. Now its there turn. Ken

  8. She is a keeper. She gets all her good looks from her grandpa. Thanks for the replies, it is going to be fun. Ken
  9. It is a great day here, my first grandchild was born yesterday. She is a healty little girl. The wife and I are going to she her in a little while. Now I think I need to start thinking of my next gun project. I am thinking a light weight 257 blued in a walnut stock for a birthday present in a few years sounds good.

I have been doing some gunsmithing for about 3 years and now own 5 mausers. I have been an automotive tech for 30 years to pay the bills. Married for 30 years with 3 great children, 1 girl and 2 boys, the youngest now in collage. my oldest son and his wife are expecting our first grandchild in about one mouth. My hobbies other then guns are raising golden retreivers and training horses. Just your average middleclass working man. Ken
  11. A friend want's me to make him a 270 out of a yugo 24/47 he has. If I open up the front of the magazine as talked about here will I also have to rework the reciever to match the front of the magazine? Will the reworked area of the reciever need to be hardened? Ken

    Barrel vise

Lead shims with rosin have worked if I put the vice in a press. The wooden blocks would break after one or two guns. The last one I removed, a Yugo 24, I had my machine shop make metal blocks that hold Brownells bushings. Even with rosin and a press I needed to put a line of weld on the barrel to keep it from turning. This one was so tight it took two people, a 4 foot pipe and a bfh to get it loose. Good luck. Ken
