  1. I think in a lot of cases members remain around and read the sites, but no longer are actively involved in collecting or restoring milsurps. The market dried up, prices soared and many simply gave up. It is the same way with many different forums and not just gun related. Also a lot of us early members are aging and no longer actively shooting but do check in to see what is being posted about. The younger generations have no interest.
  2. Wishing you a rapid and full recovery with that arm. I'm sure you know that you must take the time to let things heel. What will seem like eternity healing will be the best time you could spend. You don't want to go through another surgery to fix things a second time. Take care, heal up and thank the Lord for the surgeon's ability to repair the damage.
  3. Tisas web site does show MecGar as the producer of their mags. I've not had any issues with mine but that isnt a help for you. I've used my Rock Island mags as well. I do only fire fmj round nose so that may be why I haven't experienced issues.
  4. Here's hoping that all of you have a Merry Christmas and a Great New Year. If your traveling be safe out there. Best wishes to you all.
  5. I just did some searching about P Bill and found where he posted on gunboards in March of this year. There is a post over there about what ever happened to the site. It died a slow death but ultimately was finally ended due to tha lack of anymore milsurps. According to Bill the lack of having anymore milsurps available and high prices the days of good deals were no longer to be found.
  6. I have to say that I like the tisas as much, if not more, than the rock islands. Don't think you can have just one. Fine shooters.
  7. Do you remember $16.00 u fixims from Century. How about excellent condition Romanain m44s for $54.00? Those were in as mew condition. Better yet 8mm ammo, new production soft point for 6.00 a box. How about pissing off parrolox Bill with pictures of a mauser clamped in a vise with hacksaw in hand. Instant banning from sight. Remember that Tony? Ahh the days gone by, but I sure wouldn't trade em. We do seem to be the few survivors. It's been a great ride my friends.
  8. So many things have changed in the last 18 years or so. I believe I came around in 2005. As has been mentioned the surplus market has gone away. Also we have lost some folks due to their passing. Others are afraid to discuss their projects or collections. Still many others were lost when the site was forced to change hosts. I miss the old days we had and the constant input about projects and such. We were all like one big family in the early days, for sure. Sadly time takes its toll on most everything and our group is no exception. I still make daily stops to see what's new and will miss that. To all that are still around take care, be safe and be thankful for the times we've had. It's been good to be here.
  9. I just did a google search and a couple of different sites show him as still living at a seirra st address. One claims to have been verified August of 2023. I have never been able to find any obit. Probably not accurate but could be right. I auppose its possuble that he is just not well from the cancer and no longer responding. The search results do show multiple contact numbers and email.
  10. Good old fashion lesson in why you dont steal. If the beating didn't teach him maybe the public display of the video will. I'd say there's a good chance that fellow will find a different store in the future. Problem is though that the store employee will probably get arrested while thief goes free.
  11. Sorry to hear of your loss. It's always hard to lose one of the good folks. His memories will be with you always.
  12. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Have a Happy New Year as well.
  13. And you can bet your ass the balls would freeze off a brass monkey before he could make it back inside. You'd piss icicles in that weather.
  14. Ain't that the pot calling the kettle black.
