  1. Gentlemen, I am very much upset with how things are and getting worse. Which is why my brother got me hooked on this site long ago. I don't write much here as I am more of collector of items that work very well to protect me and my own. I also have a huge "how to" library to teach others how to make tools for the future. Plus a small machine shop sort of "Weapon Shops of Isher" mentality. You guys are makers of fine guns and have taught many a fine idea to me..Thanks. The very government we are having problems with, built the "Liberator" to disperse in Europe to help the downtrodden win back their freedoms. They seem to have forgotten their lofty goals for us all. Most of the lost souls out there have or had parents that might have missed the mark in guidance.
  2. That would have to be my Swiss army rifle. It has 37 calibers and a pair of scissors to trim my fingernails. swamp_thing, I was going to say a 1911A1, but I hate chasing brass. So my Thompson/Center G-2 in .45ACP with a scope, as I can't see anymore. But my Swiss K-31 might soon be my favorite. Tinman
  3. That all sounds so much like the Firemen here. I had lighting to take care of at the station in North Portland and it was in the locker room. Mens locker room, as we had Female staff as well. When I got my ladder set up to take the lights apart I looked over the middle locker stack and found the largest porn stack I've ever seen. That lasted until we got a female chief and all of the unsavory materials were banned at the stations. The drinking kind of died down as well. They see so much bad stuff all the time, that was their comic relief I guess. I am glad I only had to take the stations.
  4. That should say late reply, it's late and I'm old. HA!
  5. Thank you Karl. I don't show up here often, sorry for the last reply. Michael
  6. Horsefly, this cracks me up! I just read this thread for the first time and I saw you retired the same day I did from the Portland Oregon fire bureau as a Fac. Maint. Tech. I felt that it was fitting I was leaving the fools behind. HA! Fireman are great people and yet they can really tear things up. It got really tiring and I had had enough of it. May you enjoy your anniversary as much as I do. It's easy to remember the date as my wife quit smoking on the same date 23 years ago. Michael
  7. He moved to Neb. and retired. But he is the busiest retired person I know. I tell him he is giving us retired people a bad name!
  8. I don't write on this site much and you can rest assured that I appreciate everything you guys do for all of the members here. But I have to finally speak up to say I would not let one bad apple ruin my retirement. Everybody has some underlying thing that they want off their chest and you just happened to get dumped on by the individual for God only knows what. Maybe he thinks if he screws up you chances of retirement he can feel better. Don't let that happen to a guy like yourself that has gone way out of his way to make the world a better place for everyone you have touched! I don't write much here as I have a hard time dealing with people as well, but this time I have to say for ten months you can do it. As for the shots and losing your job, too close to home for me as I had this same argument with the Navy in 1977 after 8.5 years in about the "swine flu" shot. I did win that one, but then got out anyway. Tired of being told what they could do with my body without my input. Hang in there Tony. And the metal workshop sounds like a great idea. Tinman( Michael) My brother was Swampthing on here ages ago.
  9. Add a .400 Corbon barrel, .460 Rowland barrel and a Pachmayr Dominator bolt action upper and a MechTech carbine upper and you will have a complete system. You have to love the 1911 frame for its versatility. I always wanted the .38 Super version of it, though I haven't done that yet. Tinman
  10. Minimum legal rifle barrel length is 16 inches with an overall rifle length of 26 inches. With that in mind, I had a 94 swede that had the added on 1/2" of barrel and it was a tack driver at 100 yards. I think either would be great to have. I'm down to five now. I sent two to my brother.
  11. Never said it was a wise idea on elephants, just said he did it. I do believe it is the nicest caliber I have fired due to the low recoil and extreme accuracy potential.
  12. His name was Bell, I think Karamojo Bell. He did in fact use the 6.5 Mannlicher till he had one bend on the skull of one of the elephants he shot. He had to use a second shot to finish it off and as a result switched to my other favorite rifle, the 7X57. Man had no nerves at all! Would shoot the first elephant dead then get up on it and shoot the rest as they came to the aid of their downed fellow elephant. Cold but efficient. 6.5X 55 is the nicest shooting gun I have ever owned.

I have had a Jet 9X20 for 14 years and I love it. You can also search 9X20 on the net and find lots of improvements you can do to it. Have fun and a Mini Mauser sounds like a great idea to me.
  14. If you are interested with a five round flush mounted magazine How-to, go to .303 British.com, as they have a tutorial on how to make your own. Tinman
  15. Have you slugged the barrel and measured it for groove to groove diameter? Tinman
