I know i said I had enough guns...but it it was on sale for 100 bucks and I have 38 ammo and reloading gear.009.gif
Trigger is a bear but I understand that that is to prevent AD.
I shall clean it and hit the range next week.

Thank you odies dad. I shall remember.

I look forward to going to the local range this week and will report back

My main carry is still my PPH 380. But there are times ..Jigging etc when the smaller derringer will be more convenient.

Karl one can not have enough guns, congrats!!

Years ago I had an oddball brand 38 Derringer. Before it bit the dust I found shooting lightweight projectiles like 110gr HP's are much easier on the web between thumb and index finger. Is the Cobra rated for +P?

I made another acquisition over the weekend. Traded a shotgun for a Winchester Model 88 in 308. I'll get pictures and details up tomorrow.

Went on a couple of walks.
The little Cobra fits well and is very light.
I will still take the PPH if I go far but for walks or runs (when I get back to running) the derringer works well.

You guys ere right the heavy trigger is meant as a safe except for a drop of oil I will leave it be.

Karl if your Derringer is of similar construction to the oddball one I had. Before it bit the dust somehow discharging both barrels simultaneously and bending the hinge. If it has the same rotating firing pin its important to keep it lubed on the underside but have to be careful in that the oil is like a pocket lint magnet. Best I recall as it was back in the 70's. I had a couple of miss-fires from the rotating firing pin not being aligned.

A little off subject. During my time in the uniform business. During the start up I was the seamstress. I patched, repaired and sewed up numerous pockets. The amount of lint build up in some pockets was alarming but also kind of disgusting. I often carry my Taurus Titanium 38 in my pocket without a holster. I discovered by turning the pocket inside out before tossing it in the hamper helps keep the lint off the revolver. I know it almost seems silly but you might be surprised how much lint may be in your pocket looking to build up on oily surfaces. Just speculating, I guess pant's pockets gather lint in the washer, kind of like a lint filter.

Something I saw on one of the Sportsman's Channel programs about Derringers. Either spelling with or without the double R's is correct. I'm not sure which spelling was originally correct using the designer's surname. Rip-off copycats in the era used the other spelling to fool buyers into believing they were buying the real deal. I guess in today's English we use the word derringer as a noun to describe a short barreled pistol rather than as a proper noun.

Pay attention class!! Teacher Karlunity is preparing a surprise English quiz.

I didn't know they made holsters for small pockets.

Above is a good example. Sellers often claim the pocket holster help eliminate printing. Personally I can not see a difference. One big advantage is the holster keeps the pistol aligned with the grip in the up position. In my baggy shorts with large pockets. My 38 has a tendency to lay flat without a holster. Often it will find its way to the bottom of my pocket upside down. The big disadvantage with a pocket holster is pulling the holster out with the gun. Doesn't seem to be a problem with tighter fitting Levi pockets.
