The majority of economy ammo for autoloaders are FMJ's increasing the likelihood. FC Posted December 30, 2016 Author Report Share Posted December 30, 2016 I suspect there'll be a suit against the shooter and the range. This is going to be really an expensive surgery. I've never seen a lead bullet that pointy. Makes me afraid of gun ranges. Glasses protect somewhat, but not enough probably. I saw an episode a few months ago on Forensic Files about a young boy bystander die after being hit by a stray bullet at a shooting range. Can't recall for sure if it was a ricochet. Really sad as the kid was only about 10 years old watching his dad shoot. I. I've never seen a lead bullet that pointy. . The pointy or better known as the Lyman Spire Point molds were discontinued years ago by Lyman. The used molds go for a small fortune on Ebay. Loaded handgun ammo could be considered armor piercing and illegal. The chatter on the Cast Boolit board says the 357 and 44 mags loaded with water dropped, hard cast pointy slugs will penetrate Kevlar. There are also claims Lyman was pressured by ATF to discontinue the molds. I got the molds on Ebay and had difficulty locating bullet seaters for both the lube/size die and the seat/crimp die that wouldn't destroy the point.
