rdm1962
That is really neat. It would make a great option for those of us that can't carry at work. As an aside. My wife just went through "active shooter training" at her work place. The training was the local PD. The options they were told were told were " flee, hide and resist". They are to resist by throwing things at the shooter, ie. chairs, staplers, phones ect. No weapons are allowed. They are worried about a shoot out with an "untrained" employee. This even applies to the vets working there. Her boss is a USMC Bronze star holder from the Gulf. Even He isn't trained to respond. She said F### them get the PPK out of the safe it's going in my purse. Ralph
karlunity
The pols want a monopoly of armed force it ensures their power. In the early Roman Republic, Rome could lose whole armies to Hannibal and from an armed people raise new armies..Hannibal lost. During the Empire it was felt by the rulers that an armed people were dangerous, they could rebel so swords and spears were banned. The people would depend on the "professional legions" for protection. When the goths broke the legions at The Battle of Adrianople (9 August 378) They could not be replaced and Rome West started to fal...Think about it. A free person has the right to self defence and thus the means of self defence.

AzRednek
Swords were banned? Hadn't heard that. Swords as well as most pointed knives are currently banned in Japan. I'm told by a legal Jap immigrant and former co-worker. The knife ban is loosely enforced but swords, bayonets and knives over a certain length have been illegal for several years. Jap swords of historical value are considered property of the Jap govt. Family heirlooms require a govt license, fee, and unannounced inspections assuring the govt's property is securely stored.
