karlunity
http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2014/07/03/army-wants-harder-hitting-pistol/?intcmp=features Now back in the late 70's and 80's when the USG went to the 9mm almost every one was against it. Keep the 1911 .45 everyone said. Still what the heck did the grunts know? So the brass went to the 9mm and spent a billion or so.Now? Gee guess what? War experience shows the 9mm is not powerful enough??Like I am SOOOO surprised...oh WOW .. So now what? why spend a few more billion on tests to prove what your great grand dad knew. The 45 is best for a military sidearm. Now they could say: ya know we still got a few 100.000 45 mags is storage in Bakersfield And, you know we have a ton of 1911 parts, we could sell those M9s on the open market or with the DCM and use the money to buy Rock Island 45s at say $300 a piece with good grips and sights and not only save the taxpayer a billion or so but even put some loot back in the treasury to help reduce the national debt.Any chance???NAW! Snow ball in hell.karl
rdm1962
I'll bet if there is a change back to the 45ACP the 1911 wouldn't be the handgun. I'll bet it will be some hi cap platform, ie Glock, Sig or S&W M&P series.
ken98k
I believe the Marines are already switching to a Kimber 1911

Dr.Hess
A friend of mine was real high in the Navy in shooting when the M9 was adopted. They sent them some M9's and said "approve this." That was the Navy's "trials." He said word was that the Italians were buying some missiles from us and we were going to buy the M9's from them.
