Update On 3 Rifles, Need Help On One.

While at my father's house, I was able to test fire the three rifles that I built. I have a issue with one. The 8mm Mauser that I built will not go off. Check the primer, light strike. Check the pin and replaced. No luck. Replace the spring with another surplus one. Nothing. Check the movements, free. When I install a primed case, no power or bullet and pull the bolt out, she'll in on the bolt.

Should I order another new striker spring from wolf or any suggestions would be great.

thanks

Rob

Sounds to me like insufficient firing pin protrusion. I believe Sarco recently had a batch of original military style firing pins made.

And then there is the Tubb model from midway. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/366309/tubb-speedlock-systems-firing-pin-and-spring-mauser-98

This site, you might be familiar, has a Mauser ID section that shows dimensions that may help. It has to be something that you're overlooking. I didn't know that we were talking the intermediate length M48 action, but the protrusion dimension is the same as the M98.

Having read you posts, I think that I would try another bolt if you have one or failing in that, check the firing pin again. I had the same idea as Dr. Hess.

You seem to have tried everything else.

If you cannot get to the range..prime some empty brass and stick the muzzle in a pile of rages that will allow you to test at home and not annoy the neighbors.
