30-30 Winchester Boltaction Build Question.

I have always liked the idea of a bolt action 30-30 rifle. I know that Savage and Stevens made several models. I have always thought they were clunky and cheep looking. I thought that a Mosin Nagant or a Styer M95 would be a good donor rifle. I think the clip feed Styer is the better choice.

The rim of the 30-30 is .048 smaller in diameter than the 8x56r. It is .003 thicker. The widest part of the case on the 30-30 is .069 thinner than the 8x56r. In fact the European designation of the 30-30 is 7.62x51Rmm.

I would like to know what you guys think. Can clips be "adjusted" to securely hold and feed a round in a properly barreled action? The extractor on a M95 would need to be larger to grab the rim on a 30-30. I haven't checked SAMI specs for each round yet but based on their age I would guess the 30-30 wouldn't exceed what the action can handle. Many M95 were rechambered in 8x57 Mauser by the Germans. I figured I would ask for some impute on this idea. Thanks Ralph

Over the years there have been posters here with rimmed cartridge projects in the works but can't recall ever seeing one completed except for a few built on a Siamese Mauser. I recall somebody but can't recall who it was. Starting or planning a M95 and was undecided on 44 Mag or 444 Marlin.
