  1. I live near Savannah, GA........................ Thinking about just working with the 8mm barrel. I had previously cut it off at about 24" and recrowned the barrel, but I have not fired it yet. Will look into loads for the 8mm.........................
  2. No, I haven't removed the front lip yet. I'm just trying to get this project going. I didn't think finding a barrel would be that difficult.............. Not sure what to do at this point....................
  3. I'm in Georgia. I do not have immediate access to a welder, and I have never welded. As far a caliber is concerned, I would love it in 308, but I'm not sure the K Kale can handle it. If not, I'm thinking 7mm mauser or 6.5X55. As far as the stock, I have an ATI that I'm doing a FMSniper kinda thing with. I have a 2.5-10X50mm scope, luepold base and rings. I am familiar with Steve wagners site, and have done the bolt mod to this mauser using the grade 8 bolt, and a plastic knob of my own manufacture. I guess I need to find an action wrench, a set of go/nogo gauges, and a chamber reamer for tools and a barrel, preferably a target/bull barrel.
  4. I have a turk K Kale action and I want to build something to play the long distance game with,....not for competition, just for fun. I'm thinking of changing out the barrel, etc. but I dont have a lathe or a mill. Can it be done with only minimal tools? Suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks Jim

    Parts?

Anyone know where to find parts for a type 99? I was given a barrelled action with a bolt (not complete), and trigger. Thinking about putting it back into original configuration................. Yeah, I know I'm nuts!
  6. Basically the letter addresses "kits" and Parts that have been coming into the country for years. The AWB stopped the importation of so called assault weapons that had evil features like pistol grips and hi cap mags. When the AWB went away, the law covering importation of these weapons did not. What was not covered under the importation guidelines were repair and replacement parts, nor were US manufactured weapons banned. Most folks buy a kit (everything for a weapon except the reciever), buy a US manufactured reciever, and enough othe US made parts (5 or 6) and put together a US made weapon. Most of these kits were for AK's, FAL's, Galils, and even SKS's. The price was reasonable too.....$99 and up for a kit, $70 for a reciever, and usually about $60 for other US made parts........you could make a semi-auto AK for about $230! What bothers me is the fact that there was no law change here, only an interpetation by the BATFE. If this is what can happen without so much as a hearing or law change, whats next? Ban the import of CMP Greek M14's? K31's? Be wary! Be watchful!
  7. I still lurk around here now and again. Nice new site FC! Don't know if you guys saw this or not, so I thought I would post it here. HOPEFULLY, most of the weapons talked about here will not be affected, but what is next? It's time to make sure your representatives know how you feel about gun control, etc. BTW, this would affect SKS's, AK's, and whatever else the BATFE deems.......................
