I hope the girls wore more than just underwear under those. I remember when blue jeans were forbidden.

Not at first but it didn't tale long for culottes to become popular under the short skirts. I can remember when girls had to wear a dress or skirt. The only exceptions in 1950's grammar school and early 60's high. Were rain pants on rainy days and PE shorts that could not be over an inch above their knees.

When I got back to the world the Mini and micro mini had come in. I was walking down the block behind a blond and the wind proved that she was a blond. I almost walked into a street light!!!!! I sometimes think I shoulda been a hippy! I did like the mini craze.

I got into the long hair hippie thing in the late 60's. It was all about pxxxy. Hung around with bra-less halter topped women, some were activists for the Socialist Workers Party. It was as simple as giving them a lift to a rally or demonsation mostly for farm workers. Even spending an hour or so outside a grocery store handing out flyers on boycotting lettuce and grapes. I was going to get lucky. Fortunately for my young immature brain. After being talked into smoking pot at a so called love-in which was just a polite way of saying orgy. The pot made me really sick. I may have had a flu bug but after having problems breathing I vomited violently and got my first dose of dry heaves that lasted for hours. Afterward just the smell of burning pot turned my stomach. Another scare about that time which turned out to be no more than a urinary infection. Being mistreated by cops getting chicken sh!t tickets and hearing horror stories about the way long hairs were treated by the draft board. Cut my hair, shaved my beard and moved back in with mom.

I was lost in the late 60's. Couldn't get a decent job with my original 1-A draft status. Even after Nixon did the birthday lottery. Seemed like there was a question added to job applications wanting to know my lottery number. I was 190 something so I was still iffy to potential employers. Phoenix area got up to a couple digits over 200.

Still when I reflect back I had the wildest tme of my life. I did get a bit crazy determined to have fun before going to Nam. Buddies were getting killed, maimed or addicted to drugs in Nam. A Marine friend sent me money from Nam to go to Sweden to avoid the draft. Didn't take his offer and gave the money to his sister. He came back missing toes on one foot. After attempting to enlist a few times to get it over with. I failed my physicals for poor hearing but was still eligible for the draft according to a Marine recruiter. After my second draft physical my status was changed to 1-Y and later 4-F. Knocked up my first wife in early 70 and I finally settled down.

My first encounter with a Marine recruiter scared and pissed me off. I originally tried the Air Force. Two buds and I signed up for their buddy plan. We were promised to remain together through boot and first assignment. My friends were both sent to Alaska. After being turned down by the AF, I tried the Navy and Army.

Turned down again after leaving the all branch recruiting station. The Marine chased me down in the parking lot. He tried to tell me when I get home on my first leave I could kick anybody's ass in my neighborhood. He then tried to impress me with his tattoos telling me they make women horny. After he asked and I told him about the kind of work I'd been doing. I'll never forget his reaction, a phony laugh "he he he he". Telling me I need a job closer to mommys tit, "I hear Taco Bell is hiring". I foolishly gave him my phone number and he pestered me and my mother over the phone.

The Marine eventually persuaded me he could get me in. Pulling a string a string with the draft board if I hooked up with the Marine recruiter during my draft physical. Didn't work, he called the next day chewing my ass for not telling him I was declined by the Navy. He then demanded names and numbers of friends. Giving me a hard luck story if he didn't make his quarterly quota.

The Marine recruiter I assume got himself into some trouble months later. He gave a friend and his parents in writing a guarantee he wouldn't go to Nam if he enlisted n the Marines rather than wait for the draft. After my friend was sent to Nam right out of boot. His parents hired a lawyer and working through a Senator. Friend was returned home, honorably discharged and he was no longer eligible for the draft.

PS sorry about spelling and word correct on this lap top, don't not have time now to correct
