I have a Savage 9317, heavy barrel, 17 HMR in a factory laminated stock. Stock never felt right. Not enough heft for the heavy barrel. Boyd's recently made a special run of their tactical stock that they make for the Savage TR rifle. Stock was priced good, at about $75, which was about 1/2 price. So I got one, and put it on. Rifle feels sooooo much better now. It even has a second sling swivel under the forearm for a bipod to be installed. Forearm is wider for shooting off bags, and a higher stock comb. Ambidextrous palm swell on the gripp. Shocking thing was the colors of the laminates under the Boyd's "splatter" type black paint. Rainbow laminate. I almost needed sunglasses after seeing the colors during inletting modifications.

75 bux was a good price. You shouldn't have much trouble recouping a good portion of the cost selling the original stock on Ebay.
