Hello,

We are contacting you today because we have disabled your outbound email services temporarily. The reason for this is because you've got a forum that spammers were subscribing to to get messages sent out. They used a spam trap email address that actually resulted in our mail server getting blacklisted.

We need you to add protection to it so it isn't being exploited in the future. You will need to contact us and let us know this has been resolved for us to restore your email services.

For protection, we ask that you require an account to subscribe to topic notifications if you haven't already. We also ask that you add protection to your sign-up page so that spammers cannot automate it. You can do this by using a captcha or something similar to that.

Once you've done this, please respond back to this email, call, or chat with us so we can review your account and reactivate your email services accordingly.

Thank you,

Ask for the account names and when the emails were sent. Tell them we are on top of the spam problem and have it resolved and are cleaning up the mess. Tell them we have Captcha enabled, plus authentication questions, but the spammers got through it anyway.

Thanks Dr. Hess. I thought we had done this, but I didn't understand how to implement everything they wanted to do.

I think I'm going to look for an alternative for Invision, plus file a BBB complaint. They did not resolve a problem with a rogue script, but told me to contact BlueHost, and have them deal with it. I responded to Invision's email. I got a response back saying the issue was closed, and marked as, "Resolved"! BlueHost is merely the host server, while the program is Invision's. I won't change servers if I can't find a better one than Invision. There is a service for $40 per year that BlueHost recommended to monitor for hackers and rogue junk on the site. I might do that.
