  1. Fella should have read his load books and done the math. There is such a thing as recoil. Dumb...just dumb. Karl
  2. Don't feel bad. I have hit myself in the head so many times I have lost count!!! : ) karl...I think???
  3. I first learned to clean rifles and pistols back in Parris Island. We were told to clean the weapon the day you shoot it and the next morning. Boy, this turned out to be good advice especially with Black Powder revolvers. I cleaned the Remington 58 with lots of boiling water and bore cleaner when I got home yesterday. This morning, out of habit, I ran a .45 bore brush with JB paste down the bore. Tons of black sludge came out of "the clean bore". So I re cleaned the pistol and I will check it tomorrow. Any way, I wonder if the "clean it the next day" rule runs all the way back to the time the Corps used black powder? : ) Karl
  4. Thanks fellas, I will get one tomorrow. I went to the range after school today. I took the Mouse gun, a Rom .22 rifle and firing from sand bags was putting the rounds in the head of a silhouette target at 100 maters, with issue iron sights. : ) The BP Remington New Army shot very well, well for me that is, it kept the balls in the center of mass at 25 meters. I did not realize that the powder flask was empty, till, I heard Boom..Boom ..Pop..pop. From now on, I use the brass loading measure. Having a ball stuck in the barrel and firing the next chamber would have ruined the day..not to mention the gun . Still all is well that ends well. The loading stand made reloading a snap. If you fellas don't have one, make one. It takes about a half hour. The pads over the power was a great idea thanks, clean and it let's you see which chamber you just loaded. On the whole, a good day. Karl
  5. I was looking at a funnel that allows one to reload a flask without taking the top off. Nice idea but with shipping it runs 23 bucks!!! So I took a case, it had a Bardan primer so I could not reload it anyway, and I used a tube cutter to remove the base. I stuck in a small plastic funnel from the .99 store and secured the parts with scotch tape. It fits perfectly cost about 23 cents!!! I saw a stand made to hold a cap and ball pistol upright while it was being loaded it ran about 15 to 20 bucks. It seemed like a good idea, so some left over wood from the garage and some rubber from an old inner tube for the gun to rest on and it is done. Cost 50 cents. Result : About $ 30 left over for powder, shot and range fees. : ) The good thing about not being rich as a kid and joining the Marines, not the wealthiest of services, is that a fella learns to be inventive. 6. Let me be the first to say "well done Comrade." You got a very good deal. Heck, the ammo alone is worth 30 bucks. Enjoy. Comrade Karlsky
  7. You got it Swamp. I would get a second opinion. Nothing against your Doc, but it never hurts to double check. Karl
  8. I have a RCBS power measure that I picked up at a sale. It is smoother than the "perfect power measure" in operation and I think that that makes it quicker to load ammo. I also have a RCBS hand priming tool. I like the safety feature that the Lee does not have. Other than that it is Lee all the way. The only other problem I have with Lee is that my darn press WILL NOT wear out. I want to buy the New Lee press but my old one won't wear out!!! Karl
  9. I agree. Let them "handle" the troublemakers. No ACLU or civil rights pc crap..just a quick visit to the family of the troublemaker. peace at last.. One MUST respect the local customs mustn't one? Proper Karl
  10. Once I had all the flavors of Mausers, I figured the I was ok. Then I found Mosins, after I had a couple I figured I was ok. Than it was SKS's then Enfields..I still need a No1 Mk lll.. But the worst was over, there were no more mil-sups. So I purchased a "Richardson Boot Pistol"..only $ 50..: ) Than it was a CSA .44, I returned..later exchanged, for "Remington New Army 1858". Now I hear a Colt 1860 Army..calling...calling.. Just one more..I can stop any time.. Strong Karl
  11. 77 bucks back then was harder to find than $ 700 now. : ) The Turks and Mosins of today are even cheaper if you factor in today's real value against that of 67. Thanks AZ. I enjoy reading those old adds. : ) karl
  12. It seems to me that if you were going to collect the insurance and not rebuild or if the payment was more than the current replacement value of the structure, your payment could be seen as profit. But this does not seem to be the case. Call the IRS and then if necessity an account or a tax lawyer. I learned long ago NOT to go by what the guy next door thinks. Karl
  13. Some of the older Mausers have had their firing pin spring weaken over 80 years and won't consistently fire some, (Turkish) mil sup ammo. When the ammo was cheap, 70 rounds for 5 bucks, it was worth getting new springs. Now, unless you are having problems or building a target rifle, I would not bother. Karl

If you are going to remake the social order, you must change every root that anchor's it. Now the foe knows that violent revolution has no chance in America, so since the 1930's they have taken the "long march through the institutions of the West". Remove religion, the family and the nation and you create a vacuum that the "party can fill". The one world, would be, elites have never left, they have just changed names. If you aspire to the Lordship, you gotta have serfs. Hell, why do you think the "elite" hate guns so much? It has nothing to do with "Crime" or "protecting children". An armed serf is not a serf, he is a freeman and a danger to the slave master. Gotta disarm the serf than forge his guns into manacles. Victory is found in the mind, use his ideals against him. Demand perfection and when he shows himself to be imperfect, use his pride to confuse and trap him. Old as Egypt. Karl
  15. With the exception of the "perfect powder measure" I have found Lee equipment to be as good as any. Karl
  16. I have been using "Lee" gear for years and see no problem with it. (I have reformed 3006 to 8mm and other rounds with mine with no problem. : ) ) I prefer the RC BS powder measure, but that is the only major"non-Lee" piece I use. I would say that the price is a bit high. The Midway USA and Lee sites both have Lee starter kits for less. You can get a new tumbler, brass cleaner, for 40 bucks and the Lee dies run about $25 new. Make sure you get "carbide dies" if you load pistol. You won't have to lube the case. I would give "Lee" a call. They are honest folk and will tell you what you need. Karl
  17. Not to worry Ole buddy..I can ask TYRVR to pull a few strings with his Army buddies and send you to ALASKA. They have good gun laws....Don't thank me I just that kind of helpful fella : ) kind Karl
  18. I would buy it without question. Karl
  19. I really despise the UN and all its pomp and works. Karl
  20. TYRVR you and your lady are in our prayers. Take care my friend. Karl
  21. A very learned man. The rev. Jackson got taken to the woodshed. The lower case "r" was intentional in Jackson's case. Karl
  22. Congratulations Dr. Hess. May you and your lady have many more. The Hippy and I are pushing 30!!!!!!!!!!! Seems like we just met. : ) I still recall what folks said when we started going out: "THOSE TWO"??????!!!!!! : ) Karl
  23. That is good to know. Thanks for letting us know. karl
  24. True story. A group of very very rich Hollywood liberal types wanted to build a museum. Keep in mind that any ONE of this group could have written a check to cover the whole amount as easily as you or I could have purchased a can of beer. So what do our liberal friends do? They put in for a federal grant!!! Liberalism, good feelings that someone else pays for. Karl
  25. TYRVR. Sir, It is a pleasure to read this. I had not seen the bright side . : ) Karl
