  2. I got the LAST can he had. : ) karl
  3. Fellas. As you know I have been bitten by the Black powder bug. First, a boot pistol from SOG and then a CSA .44 from Cabala.Well, I had to return and on second exchange the CSA .44 for a 1858 Army,I am still waiting to hear from Cabala's "gun dept" on that one. Seems they have to "check the gun before making the exchange". In any case, I was use a neo-black powder powder called "American Brand". I was double loading the smooth bore boot pistol and just about making a hole in the target at 10 ft. Well, I took Uncle DuPont's advice and got some Goex BP. I had to go to LA (160 mile round trip) as no one local had any. Boys , It was worth the trip.!!!!! Using a set of "Lee dippers" I gave the "Boot pistol" a charge of 17.4 and (it is .36 cal) and it went through the target at 25 meters and kicked up dust at 50 meters. Using "point of aim point of impact" I was hitting a NRA rifle bull at 25 meters. : ) Now this might not seem like much to some fellas, but if you consider that I am a lousy pistol shot with a Walter P-1 wit sights, it speaks well for a Muzzle loader smooth bore with none, : ) The Black powder was no harder to clean with MP-Pro 7 than the weak powder. 4. Thanks Jery. You and the family have a good "Thanksgiving" as well. May all off us here, and absent friends, have a fine day. karl
  5. Thanks fellas. She got a Canon and it only took one store!!!!!!!!!!!!! : ) Karl
  6. If the Draft is reactivesated, I think that the left would soon lost office. I agree with fritz on this one. karl
  7. Thanks Doble Troble. I am collecting all the extras a bit at a time. I found a neat little tool that holds 15 caps and allows you to place the caps on the nipple. I feel a whole new area of our hobby opening up. The Hippy thinks this is nuts, being a child of the 50's, she was raised on the theory that "good tech is new tech". : ) karl
  8. The Hippy is going shopping for a digital camera for her favorite brother. Does any one know the best one to get? Karl
  9. We serfs are NOT allowed to buy AKs in Cali. Master don't wants us pore folk to hurts ourselfs. field hand karl
  10. Thanks Doble Troble. That sounds a bit more reasonable. One more question. The Remington new army barrel does not, so far as I know, come off the frame as the Navy Colt did. So do I just pour Hot water (or mp-pro 7,) down the Bore and then patch it dry ? Karl
  11. Fellas. I have a question. What is the proper way to clean a Cap and ball BP revolver? I was just going to use MP Pro 7, which the maker said works on BP arms, to clean the pistol as I do the Hippy's 38. Yet some sites say that you have to take the pistol completely apart, every screw and spring. and boil them in hot water. I am thinking that the fellas in the Civil war did not take their pistols completely apart after shooting. They would have lost the parts in the field. : ) Field strip: take out the cylinder clean it, the bore and the rear plate, yes but every screw and spring? That seems a bit much. What do you fellas do? Karl P.S. Uncle, I found some bp. : )
  12. Hello Swamprat. What pistol did you get? karl
  13. Hum..some fellas perhaps...but not I. They call me don't call me "big"Karl....: )for nothing. modest karl
  14. Once the fighting with England started any one who was not active in the service of America was damned as a "Tory". After the war, it was never the goal of the Founding Fathers to set up a democracy. What they created and what we still have is a republic. Only after victory was political debate allowed and yes, it got very nasty. Even Washington, by the end of his second administration, was being called bad names. Still the people have spoken and the voice of the people is the voice of God...as the British judge said before he ordered you to hang. : ) Perhaps the people are right, yet I don't think so. I think that the foe has been emboldened and we may yet pay a very very bloody price in several 9/11s, before we wake up and teach a very hard lesson to the sons of the prophet. Karl
  15. That seems like sound advice so I called and told Cabalas to send me a Remington Army 58 instead of a refund. I used the "chat" service and got all my questions answered. This one is all steel except for the hand guard and should be here in 3 to 6 days. I think, however, I shall shoot this one BEFORE I name it. !!!! Karl
  16. Uncle sam sir, is NOT a "flim-flam man" through many holding political office, and more of late, in his name are. karl
  17. gave that sort of info to the Red Chinese or any one else, he or she should be in the brig or at the very least kicked out. Karl
  18. I think, I may have found the place to retire to. karl
  19. Adm. Roughead is part of the "We can make friends with China" school. Looks like the good adm just got buggered by his commie friends. Allowing one's battle group to be surprised is considered bad form among the Naval set. karl
  20. Good to hear from you. karl
  21. When I tried to "cock" the hammer on my cap and ball pistol, half the time it would NOT come all the way back and engage the sear. I would have to let the hammer fall and try again. The only way to make the sear engage for sure, was to hold the pistol in your hand with your thumb on the hammer and sort of snap your wrist down. Did I just get a bad pistol or do they all cock with a snap of the wrist? With my regular pistols and revolvers, you just thumb the hammer back, it engages the sear and you fire. I have sent it back and was thinking of ordering a different one, but I would like one that works. Karl
  22. Thanks Jerry. Yeah, she is a nice girl. She does complain if I "spend too much on unpractical things"(guns), but most wives do She will go out of her way to help out. karl
